Alacorn v Alicorn and a Few Things · 7:29pm Apr 24th, 2016
Okay, so recently it was brought to my attention in my most recent story that I say alacorn instead of alicorn without ever explaining why. Well, long story short, alicorn translates from latin to "garlic horn". Alacorn translates to "wing horn". The only time I'll ever say alicorn is if I write a story where Luna or Twilight or somepony is a vampire slayer. Most of the confusion surrounding alicorn comes from the official spelling of the Alicorn Amulet. However, alicorn in mythology is the material unicorn horn's are made of. However, it doesn't make sense to me to say the Princesses are alicorns because, well, they have wings too, and aren't normal unicorns. However, that's just how I do it. I'm not convincing anybody to say alacorn, just explaining why I spell it weird.
Now onto another topic, writing better. Currently as most of you know if you're reading this, my events go by way too fast. Twilight is Unamuse stands at 2k words, when it was actually originally intended to be more 4k or even 5k. If anybody has a list of tips for slowing down and letting events sink in, please tell me them. I need them more than Pinkie needs medication.
And now the disappointing stuff. Truth be told, I'm not good at comedy. Twilight is Unamuse took 3 days in the end to come up with the few punchlines it had shoved into its small size. Most stories I write will be Adventure, Alternate Universe, and Slice-of-Life. There will be comedy along with quite a few jokes scattered throughout the other stories, but as for full-on make-you-laugh-continuously-for-half-an-hour-straight-until-your-lungs-burst-and-you-have-to-be-rushed-to-the-hospital-while-my-story-is-banned stories? None planned because I'm not that good at getting laughs unless you count all the times I've laughed at my own jokes, because in that case, dang I'm a professional.
Oh, and two last things: I'm a lazy sloth so most stories will be one shots or on no update schedule and I will edit your stories if needed, just tell me a few preferences (like my alicorn/alacorn craziness above). If you have any questions, you can ask! Now back to editing, writing, and procrastinating!
