I screwed up big-time at work today · 9:38pm Apr 19th, 2016
Well I was walking around cleaning tables a man asked me if I could get him a refill of half lemonade and diet lemonade always getting it I accidentally got some tea in it but I did not notice it anyway when I brought it to him asked why the color was funny I didn't know he was talking about until I took it back and looked at it and then in a stupid and very big lapse of judgment very bad judgment on my part I held it close to my face and took a sniff of it and said yes that it was anyway I took the cup back to the counter poured it out and put the right stuff in it when I took it back to him he was at the counter and asked if that was the same cup I took a sip from I told him I had not taken a sip ifrom it he did not believe me and then stupidly I handle that situation very badly and told him I don't appreciate being called a liar I don't remember what he said to me after that but I just told him fine I will go and get you a new cup so I poured it out and got him a new cup and then you wanted to speak to my manager and he spoke to her and then she went to speak to the supervisor Anyway after that I went back to work at the end of my shift supervisor asked me to come back to the office the ask me my the side of the story I told them what happened and they review the camera tape they said they can't tell whether I'm sniffing or taking a sip I stuck to my story they said that they would get back to me tomorrow after they review everything with the owners
I am sorry to hear that you had to deal with that situation at your job. I will be sending prayers that you can get the situation resolved.
3881572 thank you
3881573 You are very welcome.
I used to work as a server at one of many different jobs I had while going through university, so I know how difficult that job can be at times. Especially when you have to deal with cranky customers.
3881581 thank you again but the thing is I really know I could have handled the situation better I just didn't I guess I just wasn't thinking so if I do lose this job it will be my fault
As somebody who has worked around food and been with customers a lot of times, the whole "the customer is always right" thing is complete nonsense.
If I had a dollar for everytime somebody said they didn't order what I gave them and then I prove them wrong, I would have been able to retire.
3881668 thanks and I know I probably won't lose it but you know sometimes unfortunately you have to prepare for the worst I am just hoping for the best though but thanks
3881621 Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. You just happened to ba called out on something (that in my opinion) is very minor. Just take the advice of what management tells you and do your best not to do the same thing next time. If anything, that customer needs to understand that you are a human too and just weren't thinking clearly at the time. If he can't understand that, then he should really evaluate his attitude and how he treats other people.
3881895 thank you that actually means a lot
3882036 You are very welcome. I'm glad that I could help.
If you want, ask these questions if you get questioned again
Why would I take a sip of the drink?
or
Do I really look like the type of person who would do that?
or
What would I ever gain from supposedly taking a sip of that drink when we have cameras?
