So I'm chatting with Tayman, and staging scenes comes up, so I say give me a short prompt...shenanigans ensue.

Prompt: Twilight reassures a dying Rainbow Dash.

Twilight knelt at her side, running a hoof slowly through the tussled, dirty rainbow mane, her weak smile trying desperately not to break.

"It's alright now, Rainbow. It's...it's over."

Dash forced her eyes open, managing a half-lidded, glassy-eyed partial consciousness. "Did...everypony get...all safe?" she asked quietly, the words only barely audible.

Twilight nodded, her eyes brimming with silent tears. "Yes, Rainbow. They're safe. You...you saved them all." And then the lavender unicorn's composure broke, as she saw the sky-blue pegasus smile. And her face looked like it should have, like it did before all of this, and as long as she ignored the rest of the torn, bloody, broken body, Twilight could imagine she was alright, that this was all--

No, she thought quietly. No, I won't look away from this.

And so Twilight forced herself to look at the wounds, and the broken wings, and the splattered blood, because this was the cost Rainbow Dash had paid to save them. This was the price she had paid to be...to be--

"A hero," she whispered, her tears running red with the blood of ancient kings as it mixed with the crimson on Dash's face.

"You're a hero, Rainbow. Our hero."

And then Rainbow Dash's eyes lit up again, and she smiled, and somehow, while laying broken on the floor of the Everfree Forest, somehow, she puffed out her chest and stood tall.

"Well...yeah. 'Course I am. I'm...Rainbow...Dash...after all..."

And then her eyes closed, and the world went still, and she breathed her last.
