Thoughts about The Crystalling

Warning: spoilers for the season première!

Hm, what’s this?

An episode which features buy our toys a baby alicorn, who happens to be the very embodiment of sheer evil, and for Hasbro serves as a convenient vehicle to lure us into purchasing more toys, namely those relating to cots and mobiles?

A wizard-y character who isn’t named after synonyms[“twilight”] synonyms[“sparkle”]? And isn’t a mare?

Celestia (and Luna) not completely helpless like in the Canterlot Wedding (not to mention the plundervines, and Tirek)?

Spike performing that “manly” pose in the mirror again?

Holy cow, indeed it is!

However, I was a bit disappointed to not see changelings anywhere. The episode titles were too similar (clarification: to the word “changeling”, that is) to not involve them at all, in my opinion.

And Flurry Heart was what made me a bit reluctant to watch the new episode at first. Those giant wings I saw in the sneak peek a while ago needed quite a bit of eyebleach to remove from my noggin. Well, now that I mention it, it doesn’t feel so bad after watching the episodes.

So that’s it from me. Onwards to episode three!

Edit: they haven’t put Luna on the same platform as Celestia in the opener, after four seasons. Odd.
