Hey, it's April Fools! I'm sure you either have been or are going to be inundated in fake story chapters and leaving-the-fandom-goodbye-forever posts, so here's something a bit different.
As you may or may not know, I'm a proud changeling. I enjoy holes. (hardy har har) A tunnel is a sort of hole—quite a large one, in fact.
Recently, I've had the chance to see one of these large holes in a fanciful universe called real life. (I discovered it while searching for a suitable nest.) From above it looked unassuming, the asphalt reducing it to a bulge in the path one would only give a passing glance.
But take a closer look, and its holey secrets are revealed! Note the round cylindrical shape, moist dirt, and appropriate materials for a nest nearby. Also note how not many ponies would care to look down here. It really is the perfect place to lay some changeling eggs.
I was concerned there was already a nest sitting among the dried grass, but I double-checked and there wasn't.
There's a little trail for those cute little larvae to crawl on as well. Again, some very nice dirt. I felt it and it had the perfect texture: just a tiny bit crumbly, and it didn't make my hooves wet.
On the other side, there was some nice, sturdy pebbles under the asphalt.
By the way, the path overall is quite nice; it's got some nice scenery there. There's some ponies that cross through once in a while, as well as a secluded area behind some trees to hide a corpse or two. It's a shame I didn't manage to take more photos of that area, but you can see the trees I'm referring to at the far left in the photo below.
I honestly hate April Fools, because it seems like the only thing anyone can ever think of is just to be a massive cunt and break everyone's hearts. Perhaps the worst part is when they post something that genuinely seems like a really fun idea that people will want more of, then the joke is that "NO FUCK YOU I'M NEVER DOING THIS".
You, on the other hand, just posted a fun, charming little changeling thing, with photos that are one photoshopped pony away from being lovely cover art. We need more jokes like this one.

Immature jokes aside, it'd be good to be able to find out what it's for. I think its purpose would have been more obvious before an earthquake years ago created potholes everywhere (hence the asphalt), but I didn't take any photos of it then.

4479404 Oh! I remember there used to be somewhat deep puddles around here whenever it rained. I'm not sure if it was where the tunnel's now at, or if it's a few metres up ahead.
I used to always get my shoes soaking wet in those puddles. Fun times.
