Show Schedule vs Writing Schedule · 4:17am Mar 6th, 2016

Regular reader, Fluttercheer writes:

[March 26th Sixth Season Premiere detailed in EqD]

Fluttercheer, we apparently read the same periodicals.

Question: Will I finish before the premiere?

Answer: I believe so. However, it is likely to be serializing during the first episodes. I'm at 32,000 words and twenty chapters as I write this—20,000 of those words were written in the last week—and I foresee another 10,000 words and about five to seven chapters to go. Last week's total included the story going off the rails for a day, but got it back on track last night by changing the spaghetti sauce in to minestrone, and a few other softening touches.

I'm aiming for a March 18th debut but since I'm the type that writes when the characters speak to me, the date may slip. They've been loquacious recently, and I will have to accommodate a new character in the climactic chapter. On top of it, do you know how hard it is to write in rhyme? I want a complete story before any pre-reader sees it, so I can properly backfill any foreshadowing or fix any plot hole. I'll likely be proofing the final chapters as readers are reading the first ones.

Regardless, speed writing is fun. In publishing, speed in writing equals money.

Why Does It Matter: As I mentioned in my last blog, if the show develops Starlight Glimmer, some of this story could go AU, thus the urgency of completing it. The show provides more insights into Starlight Glimmer's background, I think this story (however melodramatic and unexpected), will still seem compatible with canon.

I thought you didn't know yet, because you didn't hear anything about the supposed start date in May.

I do appreciate the heads up! :pinkiehappy: I use the EqD app to read the site, and often avoid the very obviously marked spoiler pages. However, since they goofed hiding the big little spoiler concerning Her Majesty the Empress of the Crystal Empire Princess Cadance and the Prince Consort Shining Armor, I've have been looking carefully not to get too much spoilery stuff while hoping for schedule info.

Well, the first episode does do something that affects my story. I am totally for it, but it changes everything, though the AU aspects of the end of Rediscovering Harmony and Bedroom Interlude do cover the same bases. Nonetheless, I stand by my previous comment:

Good thing the story should stand on its own! :yay:

And, okay, yes!, I'm very excited about the new episodes, especially since our favorite reformed villain may have her life taken apart and reassembled before our very eyes.

Not reading your spoiler tags. I'm going blind into this ride. :ajsmug: As always.
And yes, Equestria Daily used to be a lot better in hiding spoilers. How I miss the Season 4 times.....There they really nailed it.
But since Season 5, they often derp with spoilers. Calpain (accidentally, he even apologized) revealed in a news completely unrelated to Season 5 that the Smooze is in "Make New Friends but Keep Discord", later on he did something similar and said that Rarity has to prove Rainbow Dash's innocence in something and after "Scare Master" leaked they had pictures of the Mane Six' costumes in the Drawfriends without hiding them behind a spoiler tag.
And now, just recently, they have put the name of the pony "Who shall not be named yet, because it would be a huge spoiler" upfront in a news title.
To be fair, getting spoilered about her wasn't very hard, you just had to look through the new fics here on FIMFiction.net and you were spoiled hopelessly with both her name and her look.
But still, not everyone goes on FIMFiction.net they avoid it during spoiler season and for those, such a thing shouldn't be in the header of a news.
I criticized that recently and was corrected by one of the staff members by mentioning their spoiler filter, but unfortunately, this filter works only half-efficiently if switching it on leads to it that even the small, not so spoilery Season 6 related news, like the announcement of a new writer or some interesting production details by one of the writers AFTER the episode has aired get blocked out by the filter.
The latter would still be interestingly to read without tapping into a spoiler trap and that those harmless news get switched off too let me hesitate to use the spoiler filter so far.
