I'm Still Here and Kicking... Mostly · 12:47pm Mar 5th, 2016
So... it's been slow-going.
Very slow going.
The good news is that I have several chapters outlined for writing. I just have to pull the words out of my head and put them down, and that's becoming a problem. Having hardware issues isn't helping matters either, but that will hopefully be fixed soon.
I'll iron out this next chapter here and see if it can get released within the month.
Sounds good to me.
What are your hardware issues specifically?
awesome. though you seem to be having trouble getting them out of your head, why not go back to your tried and true "creative blue balls"?
Hey, man. You do you. We'll all be here when you're ready. :)
Whee!
3792298 I have received my new computer (a gaming desktop) that didn't come with a built-in wireless card. Not a big deal; I ordered a USB adapter to remedy this. But I can't get it to connect to my home's wireless network. I've tried everything from manually installing driver support, resetting the router, and flat out buying another router and setting it up, which ultimately didn't work.
But here's the catch: My laptop and smartphone will connect to my home network without any problems. What's even more interesting is I can enable my mobile hotspot on my phone, and my desktop will connect to it.
I'm about to lose my cool and start smashing things. Any help is appreciated

Two things here:
1. Are you using solely Wireless N at the 5 ghz setting? Most new wireless devices are capable of utilizing such right now.
2. It would be better if you used a wireless adapter CARD than a USB stick. The USB ones are notorious for high failure rate. Here's one that I have and use.

1. I highly doubt it. I'm renting a basement apartment from a little old lady and she has just a basic G router. I've tried swapping out the router but that didn't seem to help.
2. Where does that plug in? I'm using this desktop and am not quite seeing where that would go. And yes, I'm finding out first hand just how bad these network adapters are failing. I'm 0-3 right now.

The card in question would plug into a PCI slot INSIDE the case (it plugs into the motherboard, should take all of 10 minutes to install, even after referencing a how-to video) There should be a open slot to plug it in with ease.
3803297 Is it compatible with Windows 10 right out of the box?
3803337
According to this list, the TL-WDN4800 model WILL work with Windows 10 in a plug and play format
3803614 Okay, I went ahead and ordered it. I'll let you know know what happens.

If you need a reference, this video will help you get a good grasp of installation. you really don't need a hell of a lot to accomplish it. just don't use a magnetic screwdriver.
3803864 This card has a PCI-E, and it looks like I need to get an adapter for it.
3811904
Surprising to hear. havnt seen a board wiht NO PCI slots before
3811999 I can see a PCI slot in there, but from what I could tell from the video you posted, the adapter uses a PCI-E.
3811999 So, update:
I found three PCI ports. One is labeled "PCI," one is PCIE 1, and the other is PCIE 16, I think. I found the express slot, but it's blocked by the graphics card.
Do they make such a thing as a PCI to PCIE adapter?
3812327
Youd want the PCI slot specifcally, its the shortest of them all
Could you perchance send a picture of the inside? that would be a big help
3812418 I LIVE AGAIN!
Nevermind! All is good with the world. Turns out plugging it into a network repeater was the solution.

Which one did you go with?
3814729 This one.

Intriguing, but highly useful in the right setting
