Miss Koi's and Cartoon Nerd's Very Much Delayed Review of "Daughter of Discord" Episode 2 · 7:16pm Feb 29th, 2016

Missy: Happy Discord Day every pony! Welcome all to the second Missy review of The Daughter of Discord Audio Drama! Or rather, the second Missy and special guest collab review of the DOD series. And my special guest is CartoonNerd:D Giver her a round of applause!
*Random fake applause are heard after Missy pulls a random string hanging from the ceiling*
Tell us CN, what were your first initial thoughts after watching this episode?

CN: I LOVED IT! Screwy and Mothy were sooooo adorable together! And the moments with Discord and Screwy were so sweet! And having them sing their special fandom song made it all the more sweeter! But I also loved the Changelings. Being General Mantis, Acari, and Bombus, those three in the artwork made me laugh and I especially loved the banter between Acari and Bombus, they were one of best parts of the episode. But the interactions between Screw Ball and Moth Ball were the best ever! They made me laugh, they made me awed, they were basically tugging on my little heart strings. What about you?

Missy: It's funny, during and after my reading of Daughter of Discord, I was one of those fans that Screwy and Mothy as a couple was just okay. Don't get me wrong though, I love both these characters. For some reason, I never got into shipping them. But, because of the voice acting and the artwork, I can't help but find their ship and their moments together absolutely adorable:rainbowkiss: Haha lol, I know that sounds shallow but:twilightblush: it's true:twilightblush: What was your favorite Screwball and Mothball moment? My favorite moment is probably a tie between Screwy hitting Mothy's head to the ground constantly with her magic & Mothy saying that Screwy was the biggest pony he ever met & Mothy saying that Screwy's adorable singing is beautiful to him:heart:
Another funny thing that I just noticed after watching this episode was: Remember how DF said that Daughter of Discord is heavily influenced the Lion King sequel? Well, I think Acari and Bombis were inspired by Vitani and Nuka, aka Zira's children/Kovu's siblings:) Think about it: Mothball is like Kovu, Bombus is like the misfit Nuka, and Acari is like the short tempered Vitani;) What do you think?
Agreed, the beginning part of the episode with Screwy and Dissy was just so precious for words:rainbowkiss::heart:

CN: Oh wow, I actually have quite a few favorite Screwy and Mothy moments, the one where he was watching her play pirate was cute and her discovering his real identity was really funny for me when she kept smacking him around :rainbowlaugh: And the whole manticore scene was awesome! :rainbowkiss: I also love their chess game before Discord came in on them. I'm a hardcore shipper of these two ever since I read the fanfiction.
Bombus and Acari did remind me of Nuka and Vitani but not a whole lot. :applejackunsure:

Missy: Speaking of our sweet Screwy playing pirate:raritywink:..."We'll steal their gold! Their candy! And their cream cheese! All of their cream cheese! Especially the cream cheese!":yay: Oh man, that has to be my favorite line out of Screwy in this episodeXD I wonder if the voice actress for Screwy improvised that line or that it was actually scripted. Do you have a favorite Screwy line or just a overall favorite line from the episode?
Speaking of Discord, Discord was just top form in this episode:heart: From his quiet reflective moment with Screwy at the beginning talking about the events of the Bride of Discord to his ferocious over protective Daddy state, Discord's voice actor really put such a range in this episode:twilightsmile: Especially when his voice went deep in order to confront Chrysalis :raritystarry: Oh man, that was the best!:raritystarry:
Well, I'm not saying that Acari and Bombus are EXACTLY like Vitani and Nuka:/ What I am saying is that they kinda play and serve the roles of those characters since Mothy plays the Kovu role while Chysalis plays the Zira role in the story. Acari is short tempered like Vitani, but not as short tempered as Vitani. Bombus is the creature that no body wants around and the outcast and the eccentric one like Nuka, Bombus is not sarcastic and not driven by jealousy and certainly not as destructive as Nuka.

CN: I think my favorite Screwy line is that she's crazy on both sides of her family and I couldn't help but think, "How true!' :rainbowlaugh:
So yes, with Moth Ball being like Kovu, every other changeling is like the Outsiders. :ajsmug:
I think every one of the voice actors did a great job in this.

Missy: Indeed, as usual, all the voice actors did a great job in this episode:pinkiehappy:
Do you have a favorite artist for the episode? Or rather, a favorite overall DOD artist yet?

CN: I have a couple, especially the ones that come close to the original animation like Nstone53  and you?

Missy: Same here, Nstone53 is will always be my favorite artist on BOD and DOD:pinkiehappy:
But, in terms of just DOD artists solely and new artists to this franchise (yes I consider the BOD universe as a franchise:raritywink:) I've been enjoying pieces by xXMarkingXx and Kimberly Colors:twilightsmile: Kimberly Colors has a art style similar to Nstone only with smoother lines and a more stylized yet cute look. While xXMarkingXx has such expressive pieces that perfectly convey the conversations between characters, especially for Discord and Fluttershy:raritywink:
So, what's your score and final assessment of this episode? What are your hopes for the next episode? Was there anything that you didn't like about this episode?

CN: 10 out 10 :heart:s! :raritystarry: Because to me this was one of the best episodes yet! My hopes for the next one is more Screwy and Mothy interactions! But recalling reading the fanfiction that might take some time, so we'll see! Honestly, it's hard for me to hate this episode, your rating?

Missy: Like the last episode, I'm going to give this episode nine hearts out of 10:twilightsmile::heart:
Don't me wrong though, it was great episode and certainly did things better than the first episode.
And honestly, I couldn't anything to hate about it because it had a lot going for it because it vastly improved my own perspective on Screwy x Mothy's relationship and the chapters about their interaction. I guess what I'm looking for in the next episode that has all the good things working on in episodes 1 & 2 with an extra "umph!" in it:pinkiehappy:
Not sure what the extra "umph!" is, but I'll know it when I see:raritywink: Maybe the next episode needs a song? What do you think? Did you see the sneak peek song? I'm excited that we're getting our first original song:raritystarry:, but...the tune isn't catchy enough for me. I don't know:applejackunsure: Usually villain songs are catchy and fun, I don't know, what did you think of it?

CN: I did, and it's not bad and DF did say it was a work-in-progress so I look forward to the final version! It kind-of reminds me of the 'Mother Knows Best' reprise from Tangled. :rainbowhuh: So we'll see how it turns out!

Missy: That is true, it's not the final version and some much can change during the creation process. So, you're right, I need to give this song a chance. I mean, it reminds me of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid, the deleted song from The Little Mermaid "Silence is Golden", "Mother Knows Best" from Tangled, and the tone of most "The Nightmare Before Christmas" songs.
Anyway, thank you so much CN for reviewing this episode with me:pinkiehappy: Safe travels back to your channel!

CN: It was my pleasure, always happy to do a review with you fellow Fluttercord shipper :yay: See you next time! :ajsmug:
