Music SIG Likes #9 :: Brother Dege · 3:10am Feb 29th, 2016

I learned about a new instrument recently: Dobro resonator guitar. It has a distinctive look ("guitar with a shield thingy on the front) a distincitve sound (about midway between an acoustic guitar and a banjo) and features prominently in many blues/bluegrass/country songs. Needless to say, it features prominently in Brother Dege's music what with the rhythmic blues/folk style with a smattering of mellow rock mixed in for taste.

holy shit this is my jam

My dirty pirate ancestors were probably with Lafitte the Pirate Warlord badass at the real Battle of New Orleans. If you haven't read about it, the Battle of New Orleans is insane. You had Choctaw braves and pirates fighting alongside random civilians and militia and American Regulars with a handful of cannons and like, civilian ships against 11K British regulars. It is was an absolute train wreck full of legends and miracles. In fact, there's a church in New Orleans where an Ursuline nun made a vow that should the Americans win the day, she would have a special Thanksgiving mass annually. At the moment of communion, a runner busts through the door announcing that Jackson had sent the redcoats back to the sea. They have had that mass every year since.

That certainly is interesting. I would not be surprised if some of my ancestors were fighting to wrest control of the city from those colonial insurgents...
:derpytongue2:

Glad you like the music though.
