Prison Posted and 'Arthouse' Fics

So this month I saw someone talking about the Rage Reviews' F*** This Prompt contest in a chat room (EDIT: Thanks to Lise Eclaire in the livewrite chat for Doccular42's Her Knight in Faded Armor. Wish I had thought to mention you before I posted this ). I decided, "Hmm, that sounds interesting," so I decided to go look at it.

So then I entered the contest with a piece called Prison. Cool? I guess.

I think what I wrote is pretty bad and pretentious (and was posted at a horrible time. Note to self: Unless there's a pressing reason to post it earlier, wait until mid-afternoon to post stories), but my goal was never to win, just to write. And this definitely forced me to write. Whether or not the story was good is one thing, but I can be fairly certain that doing this helped push me a little bit.

It still sucks, though.

However, there's one big problem with it, barring any quality at all; it's very, very similar to my last two stories. I'll call them 'Arthouse' Fics. To be fair, they've been spaced pretty well over time, but they're all in a similar vein of thought, with little dialogue, short, and pretentious. Whoopdee doo.

I believe I need a change of pace to help me grow, which is convenient, because what I had been writing before the contest (and just not getting it done because I'm lazy) was something much different... but it's still short. Only this time, it's short, stupid, and has little point.

After I finally get around to finishing that story, I'll try my hand at writing my first multi-chapter work. I think it's what I really need in order to force myself to grow as a writer, and it'll certainly be good for making me constantly work on something. It'll probably be a few months before it comes out (January and February are nuts), and I wouldn't expect much in March, either, but I should be able to start getting something out by April or May.

I'll finally write about Luna. Best pony is fun to write. :D
