New Blogs and Random Subjects

I meant to put this up within the first week of the new year, but I didn't finish it in time. A belated "Happy New Year!" to everyone.

I've decided that the new year is a perfect opportunity to try something, well, new. So from now on I'll be doing a weekly-ish blog to ramble and for people to read. Not on anything in particular, just whatever takes my fancy at the moment. Stuff that I think will spark conversation. My sleep-deprived, insomniac brain has decided that my first topic should be one that hits close to home:

Sleep.

From a the veiwpoint of a chronic insomniac, sleep can be my ultimate goal some nights. I lay in bed and crave it. Its something that eludes me, just outside of reach no matter how I try.

Sleep, more specifically dreaming, is a subject that I love, one I wish would get a bit more attention in the show. At least another episode. Maybe it's the fact that I don't dream often. Maybe its the fact that I view dreams as an intimate look into a character's personality. My favorite episodes are those that involve Princess Luna's dreamwalking.

The glimpse into the mind of a character while they sleep is amazing. You get to see the deep down thoughts that wouldn't normally appear in a show like My Little Pony. You see fears, and guilt, and worries and its just fantastic to see. It makes you realize that there's more to a character than their interactions with their friends and loved ones on the show, and really makes the characters feel developed.

Anywho, I think I'll end my ramblings there for now. I've given myself another idea to outline. What are your thoughts on sleep and dreams? I'd love to find out in the comments below. For now, I leave you with Twilight sparkle sleeping. Goodnight everyone!
