    Something something long delays

What even is everything. I've been dragging my feet for way longer than I ever wanted (or planned) to. Between weddings, graduations, ridiculous deadlines, and inexplicable periods of bleh, it's safe to say I was a little optimistic four months ago about getting the ball rolling. All those times saying "I can't do it" and "maybe

Getting a fresh chapter squeezed in for Pi Day was my main goal this week. Mission accomplished! Pinkie would be pleased (probably).

    I Aten't Dead

So I haven't exactly put out much work over the last few months. I'm really sorry about that; between my laptop breaking all the time, the freelance work piling on, and general ennui and angst, I've been dragging my feet like a snail getting drunk on molasses. And not even good molasses, but the sludgy kind your grandma put away in the back of her cupboard fifty years ago and promptly forgot

So I haven't exactly put out much work over the last few months. I'm really sorry about that; between my laptop breaking all the time, the freelance work piling on, and general ennui and angst, I've been dragging my feet like a snail getting drunk on molasses. And not even good molasses, but the sludgy kind your grandma put away in the back of her cupboard fifty years ago and promptly forgot about. Now there's gunk everywhere and the slimy gurgling vermin are caught in a sucky deathtrap like they're mammoths shuffling around in an Ice Age tar pit ... Not sure where I was going with this. There's probably a metaphor somewhere in there, but I'm not going to think about it too hard.

So for 2016, I'd like to change that - the lack of productivity, not the rambling. I'm hoping that even if my imagination is limited, even if I don't feel like doing anything at all, I will write something every day. Admittedly I tried to do this halfheartedly in November with NaNoWriMo, in which I ended up with a mess of 7k words, half of which was the narrator arguing with the characters and pointing out how stupid and not-thought-out this fantasy world was. Pretty lame, but looking back on it I think it didn't help that I had a steep goal to reach by the end of the month, and that I'm a slow writer even at my most productive (750 words on a good day). So it's pretty easy to just say "screw it" when the cumulative ideal wordcount shoots into the atmosphere. On the other hand, if I don't have to stress about reaching 1,667 every day, and if I'm not down on myself when the wheels aren't turning enough, I should be able to get at least some words plunked into a doc. Even if it's a just a couple of paragraphs that probably won't see the light of the final draft - because at least it's something.

That's my resolution for this coming year, and I'm aiming to make this the first resolution I actually keep. 2016 is out there, waiting for us to make something of it. See you guys on the other side.

(Also, Star Wars. TFA is pretty similar to ANH, sure, but considering that the last time they went in a different direction we got TPM, I think that's not so bad. Pretty great, would watch again. Finn/Poe OTP!)
