I've decided to throw my two cents into the matter of yesterday's episode for the sake of anyone who might care. I think I can say that for those of us in the "Ditzy Doo" school of Derpfiction (which is apparently a thing), this is the best.
Worst.
Possible.
Thing.
By that, I mean that this a bigger mixed blessing than a cocktail poured by God Him/Her/It/Themself/ves. On the one hand, our wall-eyed darling has completed her ascension from memetic animation error to speaking role. On the other, well, it certainly doesn't look good for those of us who don't want to call her Derpy Hooves. That being said, I'm sticking with Ditzy Doo for the foreseeable future, for a number of reasons:
1. As noted, once a fanfiction writer has put fingers to keyboard, he or she has created an alternate universe. Sometimes very slightly alternate, but an AU nonetheless.
2. The Ditzy/Derpy dichotomy has been addressed in Elements of Harmony.
3. If anypony is going to use a semiderisive nickname, it's going to be Dash, especially in the given context.
4. Like Hell am I going to go through eleven chapters and change the name of my protagonist every time it crops up.
Note that I am by no means throwing my hat into the ignominious "OMG Derpy's a retard how dare they rabble rabble rabble" ring. I'm just making my position on the matter clear.

My guess is that somepony thought she could charge around like a Pegasus is "supposed" to because she didn't realize that Mayor Mare used the best balsa wood money could buy when she renovated City Hall. Why do you think that nopony but AJ cared about rebuilding the place.....Apple Bloom could have used her allowance to rebuild it to its former 'glory'.
