Armello and a nice freebie from epic games. · 4:52pm Dec 4th, 2015
First of all, for pc folks, you can get the darn fun game Shadow Complex for PC free until the new year. You can find the link over Here. Its a darn enjoyable game of the metroid-vania style, with some interesting features.
The next is of course, A fun little pc game, based as a mix of Game of Thrones and Redwall. You play one of 4 (soon to be 5) clans, (Rabbit, Bear, Wolf, and Rat. Added soon in Bandit) trying to secure victory for your choice of hero. Each hero has a natural way they can win easier than another. But often times the game gives you a chance to try for a dozen ways to both screw over your opponents, or get in that one turn you need to win.
Games are short, about 40-60 minutes. And there are four victory conditions. Regicide, Purification, Prestige, and Rot. Regicide is pretty straightforward, and 95% of the time, very easy to miss as well. You simply have to kill the king, and live. Its that second part that makes it so darn hard. The king's good, and his stuff makes him deadly. Purification, is gathering 4 rare stones to remove the Rot that has corrupted the king. The stones spawn randomly, and only on certain spots. Its tricky to often get, but purification, if you can get to the king, is automatic, in fairness. The third, prestige, is your game changer victory. (I'll explain briefly below on it) And the final one is Rot, which is a mix of Purification and Regicide. (And to say more below on these two fluctuating mechanics)
The game isnt long, about 16-20 turns, divided into 10 turns of day, and 10 turns of night. Each day, whomever is leading, through a stat called prestige, gets to choose one of two cards to basically screw with players. However, around turns 6-9, the choices start to hurt the prestige leader. (Which is the risk you pay for holding a corrupt kings increasingly paranoid ear for laws.) The kicker is that if you kill the king, but die, the prestige leader wins. (And the same holds true for the rot victory.) You lose all prestige for attacking the king, so really, you have to choose how you think you can.
The big timer on the game, is the king himself. The king is dying, a corrupted being. Every day he loses 1 health, and gains 1 rot at night. Rot is a good thing, or a bad thing, depending where you are. If you have 1-4 rot, you are infected, which is a bad thing. You have five or more (and more than your corrupted or infected opponent), it can be a good thing, because you are corrupted. And it does change the game. The strongest items and followers in the game are rot based. (outside a few particular treasures)
The rules are very nice, very quick, and the ai and folks very competent. Its sucked up so much time. And I love/hate it for that. You can find it on steam Here.
