"Displaced fics"- Fanfictions that I very strongly dislike.
-Me.
Seriously, I don't like displaced fics. Not only do they make about as much sense as pineapple jell-o, but they are unoriginal. So I shall (very sarcastically) summarize every displaced fic I've read the description of:
My name was *something*, n I was a human. I went to X con dressed as Y and a misterious merchant soled me Z. Now I'm in Equestria as Y. Interactions. Contrivedness. Ponies.
Did I mention these are unoriginal? The basic storyline is literally able to be copy-and-pasted. Instead of making an AU where the universes are fused, for instance, you have this unoriginal thing where a person is a thing in pony world.
They also make very little sense, as I probably said already. Besides giving no information on this so-called merchant, there are apparently magical artifacts in our world that just happen to look like something from a popular book/video game/etc. That just happen to complete this guy's costume. And just happen to send him or her to Equestria, of all places. I will now name 2 things that make not much sense, but still more than displaced fanfiction.
Person goes to whatever-universe-X-is-from as X
Actual character of X goes to Equestria.
*dun dun DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN*
Before you argue "It's for practice writing!" or whatever, as one person did to me one time, I'll tell you a thing. You can -gasp- write stories without posting them! Totally new concept, I know. Or, you can -bigger gasp- write your own Celestia-damned plotline! After all, noone learned to ride a bicycle by using a tricycle.
There's also a huge group for these stories. The group is actually alright, mainly because the hellspawn-in-story-form that this blog is devoted to gets filtered out.
