Hello, fellow bronies and pegasisters! I am The Chip, the guy behind A Matter of Family. This is my first blog so I'm pretty new at this. My apologies if this is the wrong approach or if it's too soon to say anything. I'm just doing this because I wanted to get a few things off my chest.
Now, when Sunset Shimmer's character blog said that she is unsure where she belongs. And a summary of the story said that she misses the magic of Equestria. But when the movie premiered, I was highly disappointed by its lack of it. Now don't get me wrong! It is my favorite of the three so far. It's just aside from a few lines in the dialogue at the beginning, there isn't a whole lot on the subject.
Admittingly, it didn't bother me at first. But then, recently, they showed a deleted version of What More is Out There, which along with Twilight's desire to leave Crystal Prep for something greater, it had Sunset singing about how homesick she is and that the human world doesn't have a lot to offer and I think she was having an identity crisis. But as good as the song is with it, for some reason, it was cut from the film. When asked if it was due to the removal of a planned homesick Sunset subplot, Ishi Rudell, the layout supervisor, said and I quote, "Maybe..."
Why did they cut that out? Do they have any idea how big the film could have been if they hadn't? Did they do it to put more focus on Twilight and the Games?
Still, i swear they had better put it in the next film, Legends of Everfree. It's a story plot that I actually want to see. But I don't think they're gonna tell us or give us any hints to it right away. So, I made this blog and my new fic to get my disappointment off my chest. Anyone agree with me? Please give me your opinions if homesick Sunset Shimmer should be the next film or not. And if anyone wants to try band ask them directly, please do so. Though, like I said, it may be too soon for them to say. So I recommend waiting till around next Comic Con or something.

The deleted scenes really show that this subplot would have made a big impact on movie and ending. And the duet version of "More that's out there" was much better than Human Twilight's solo version. Hopefully, it will be brought in and expanded in the forth Equestria Girls movie, which has already been confirmed.
3497547 Yeah. The one good thing from the scenes being deleted is that they have Twilight transfer to CHS as opposed to going back to CPA. It that happened, it would of been Rainbow Rocks all over again. But still, maybe if we had the best of both worlds, l don't know.
I personally prefer the final cut of the movie. The duet version was very pleasing to the ear, but I had a VERY hard time relating to Sunset's homesickness. Now, I've been homesick before, but all my homesick moments were more people-oriented than setting-oriented, so I had a hard time making sense of homesick Sunset because, from what I can tell, the expanded material implies that Sunset had next to no meaningful relationships with other ponies to go back to. Way-too-hard-on-herself, unrealistic-expectations, perfectionist Sunset and lonely, desperately looking for a purpose in life Twilight from the final cut were much more relatable in my opinion, but that's just me.
3504024 Well perhaps though this had not been mentioned some family over there she want to see. Or maybe she'd wanna reconcile with Celestia. Or see Twilight on a regular basis.
Besides, Sunset's talent revolves quite a lot around magic. She may not be as powerful as Twilight but like with her, it's pretty much her life. In a world that has very little of it and the kind it does have is involuntary, well, it would make her cutie mark rather meaningless. And we all know what happens when ponies have problems with their cutie marks. Also, what if the human Sunset Shimmer shows up or something? It would remind her she's not from there, making her think she's not meant to be there and increase chances of leaving.
Now I am not saying she has to leave. I'm just saying they need to explore if there's a small part of her that has considered it.
