I just watched Friendship Games [spoilers, obvs] · 11:49pm Oct 2nd, 2015

It.... was... surprisingly good! The animation seemed a bit better, especially with the magic, and seeing the character development was enjoyable (the Elements displaying their qualities in a way that didn't seem contrived was a nice touch). Seeing teen girls actually acting like teen girls? Yup. And, man, that villain! I didn't think a completely human villain in a EG movie would work, but she pulled it off. And speaking of pulling things off, am I wrong for thinking she's hot? I have a thing for bad girls, I guess...

I saw it online and it cut at the credits, so I don't know if there was an additional scene, but I would have loved to see a scene where Cinch fumes and rants about it afterward. Possibly to her thirty-seven cats. Or at a bar. Or to that nice lady who is totally just her roommate. :raritywink:

Also, Sunset's role in this gave some depth to her character---normally cool-headed, but can really lose her temper, etc. The phoenix imagery at the end was a nice nod, but... ehh. The ending felt like the weakest part. When Twilight got what looked like a changeling horn, I was hoping for a bit more evil. Come on, we all know true badasses don't get defeated by literal puppy eyes, right? And "we're all winners"? Oh my god.

Still, fun was had all around. I'm sick and I missed a party tonight I'm not in a good mood but I'm trying not to be too much of a cunt

Let's see, what else...

*Brad has turned into this franchise's Jar Jar Binks. They put him on the screen just long enough to be booed at.
*Pokey Pierce wearing a cravat? No teen boy wears a cravat unless he's gay. Or European. Or a gay European.
*Sure, go ahead and transfer schools. I'm sure your parents won't be SCREAMING ABOUT THE MONEY THEY INVESTED IN A PRIVATE BOARDING PREP SCHOOL THAT REQUIRES EXPENSIVE UNIFORMS
*I actually vocalized something profane when I saw the humanization of Cranky Doodle Donkey. I thought Flim and Flam's human forms were the worst until I saw that come-in-my-van-for-free-candy-kids potato face, ARGH

Hey! She's not just her roommate!

...she's also a valued teammate in their softball games down at the park. :trollestia:

Oh, did you miss Cranky's first appearance in the "Music to My Ears" video? Go to one 1:54.

I love him here. A teacher chastising music in the halls, with total seriousness, to the beat of it. But really, Cranky just looks sunken and old in his human design, which is fitting. Even if it didn't make sense, it still wouldn't be as horrifying as Flim and Flam.

They look like they have a disturbing case of jaundice, or zombieism, and those lines under the eyes just add to the image of someone who's sick. Why do they even have those bogs? Is that just a way of showing someone's an adult when the animators are out of ideas? Or is suppose to imply their conniving nature? If the latter, it worked too well. Combined with their decayed skin and slender frame, they look like two damned souls that escaped from Tartarus.
