A Blog talking about my opinions on sex in fiction and why I don't use it in my stories. · 8:59am Sep 30th, 2015
Hello, I haven't talked with you guys for a while now. Well, I guess this might be a bit of a sensitive topic but I can assure you that I am not going to discuss anything NSFW related in this blog post. I am merely going to discuss my opinions on sex in fiction why I don't think it is necessary.
So one thing I noticed is that people who are writing fanfics (especially those who want lots of likes) will generally feel compelled to include a sex scene(s) in their story. I want to say that this is unnecessary. I personally believe that if you don't feel comfortable with your story and you think you need a sex scene to spice it up then you should just scrap the story and start over. Sex isn't necessary and not all of us enjoy reading about it.
One example I have is a horror show I have really been trying to enjoy on Netflix but have been having a lot of difficulties due to the large amount of sexual content in it (that and the fact that all the main characters aren't really lovable to begin with). If you haven't guess already I am talking about the show: American Horror Story.
In the end sex scenes are usually used just to gain easy likes and does nothing at all to improve the story itself. Like I said before if you want to write a good story then avoid including sex scenes. If you feel like nothing can save your story aside from the addition of a sex scene then you really need to go back to the drawing board.
Also I understand the pier pressure to include this kind of material in your story and all I have to say is that if your audience is really trying to force it down your throat then they should be ignored and you should try to find a different audience.
A good story is only as good as the one who writes it and no sex scene can ever change that.

Now that I have that off my chest I would like to thank you all for watching me and reading my blogs and I hope you all have a good day.
Unless, like everything else in writing, it furthers character development in some way. Although, even then, it sometimes may feel like it's not needed.
