So a double pony release over the weekend with one of them spawning a ton of new stories and pictures. Personally Friendship games didn't really feel like a movie and was more along the lines of a 2-3 part episode for a season's premier. It doesn't help that it heavily followed the formula of episodes 1-2 of FiM though done in a slightly different way. It really brings up a point to me that the Elements of Harmony are not the force of 'goodness' that they are made out to be. Not once but twice do they take over someone and turn them into an evil monster. Sunset Shimmer it made a bit of sense as she was after power, but from the tears in her eyes on donning the crown there looked to be some problem in how she obtained it and she no longer had any control of herself. With Twilight it was even worse as she wasn't even trying to do anything with the power other than release it at the end, in fact she already admitted to having no idea what her little amulet was doing. So instead of all that power going back to where it belongs it instead decided to engulf her and turn her into a being of darkness that acted way out of character for her. Of course now I really want to see what happens when Sunset Shimmer goes back through the portal because if she doesn't enter Equestria as an alicorn then it really cheapens what happened at the end.
As for the FiM episode that came out, well I'm not fully sure what to think about it other than two facts. First is hurrah for the return Coco once again. And second Applejack is now a certifiable idiot when it comes to the canon which I find disappointing. I already had gripes before with her over-protectiveness of Applebloom during 'Somepony to Watch Over Me' but this is even worse. It has already been established that she has family in Manehattan, Babs and the Oranges, yet not once did she even consider going to them so far as it wasn't even a whisper on the wind. Now I can understand if she wanted to do it all herself to prove something, but when they went out looking for help but didn't think to even think to ask them? Yeah, I call bull on that one.
