Season 5, a great set up with a lack of execution. · 10:58pm Sep 18th, 2015

I'm not gonna sit here and say season 5 of MLP is bad by any means. I still enjoy it. However, after watching the season premier, I was ready for a grand tour. They set up a perfect situation to have the mane six go out to new places and solve friendship problems. That magic map was an effective means of getting any character to go anywhere. It was simple true, but I was on-board if it meant seeing new places. Exploring Equestria and saving the day with the power of friendship and whatever. It'd mean cool new locations to see.
But here we are... 14 episodes in, and how often has the map come up? Twice. Once in the premier and once for Griffonstone. That's it. Sure, we've seen other places. We got to see Discord's home, Appleloosa again, Canterlot again, Cloudsdale again, we almost saw Yak-yakistan... and that's all. We have seen two new places and one was just a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere. I can't help but be annoyed by seeing the opportunity wasted like this. I understand if they were sent off every episode it'd be lame, but every other episode would be fine. And how could the gimmick not be exploited by Hasbro? New locations means new toys! Here's a Griffonstone playset with Gilda. It seems like a no brainer. So why are we stuck in Ponyville and Canterlot still? Where is Manehattan, Las Pegasus, Neighagra Falls, Fillidelphia, and other lame puns?!

I just liked the set-up the premier offered and I'm disappointed that they chose to ignore it. But I think I've done enough ranting to the maybe one and half people who'll glance at this. I should end this on a joke...

I like chemistry jokes.
