So. . .I found this · 2:26pm Sep 18th, 2015
I recently found this on my computer. Forgot it was there as it was tucked away in a folder. Decided to share it with all the good people on this site and what not. So, here it is.
The Beast With a
Thousand Eyes
There lives a creature, a beast
upon innocent passers it does feast
its home a mansion old
stories are spoken, tales spun
yet none tell what must be told
the creature, a beast of nightmares
it feasts on the victim, but the eyes
it keeps as a memory and it lies
in wait as its next victim comes
a lonely young man
drawn to that dark place
empty of everything but the bones
he walks forth, they scream the stones
as they know he will not again be seen
alive as he goes to that dark mansion
the front gate, pointed atop and black as night
the courtyard, decaying plants surround
faint traces of old blues and reds are found
the doors await
brass knockers, heads of lions
their eyes ever watching
the young man enters
a mansion, full and empty
dust covers what was left behind
old tables and chairs, but the air
devoid of life of any kind
he explores, cautious and aware
as corner leads to corner, he turns
he finds it, or has it found him?
The creature, the beast is there
staring at him with eyes missing
the collector has not what he collects
but what he want he detects
what he wants is before him now
the young man runs and runs
pursued by legend, myth, story
he runs down and finds fear
he finds a room of bones
bones tossed to his left
skulls piled to his right
he looks up and he finds
staring into his, the eyes
that still hold fear
he steps towards but is caught
around his ankle, a hand has its grip
the bones have him and skull looks
with the other hand holds up
a weapon, a gun
he looks as the skull screams, “Take it!”
grips loosen and he wields a weapon
he can fight. He has a chance
With courage again he races
to the ever watching lions
but it is the beast he faces
with six chances he aims
his will to live is strong
the fight ensues, chances go
the beast is wounded
so is he, bitten by the beast
he has one last chance
he will not be the next feast
the creature, the beast, charges
and with on final wound, falls
the lions have been watching
they open and offer freedom
he looks out upon the gate
the courtyard of fading colors
he has made his choice
the young man has ceased to be
he will wait as he lies
for the next victim to fall to
the Beast with a Thousand Eyes!
