What to do next... · 12:05pm Sep 2nd, 2015

So I'm currently typing up the second alternate ending and I've just remembered to do this blog. I've been wondering about my next project... Being at work on a slow night with nothing to do but sit in a noisy basement and think tends to do that. At present, I have 3 things that I could do.

Continuing One Little Drone is not one of them. Please, don't ask.

1: I wrote another story about Twilight being flung into another world before this one, but with a more (hopefully) original world for her to navigate. I say hopefully because I came up with it myself, but I don't know if there's anything out there that I'm ripping off of by accident. The story is called Your Kingdom is Gone and it's gotten next to no attention, so... Yeah. I'm plugging it now as well. I don't know if that makes me desperate, egotistical, both, or neither.

2: In a blog that I wrote in last September, I was asking for advice about how to write a character that - in official canon - can see into the future. I was talking about writing a story in which a Gardevoir ends up in Equestria and blah de blah de blah - You've probably already skipped down to option 3 just reading that. Well, if you haven't, it would be a story in which a Gardevoir is sent to Equestria by spoilerific events and does stuff. In doing so, I'd imagine I'd piss off a lot of Pokemon fans, though, since I'm quite attached to my own Gardevoir evolution line headcanon (*nerd noise*, rant commence). She WOULDN'T be able to see the future, her Psychic abilities wouldn't be limited to a 4 slot moveset, and I wouldn't be acknowledging her new Fairy subtype because I haven't played a Pokemon game past White 2. I know little to nothing about the type, am completely unwilling to do the research, and I don't think being part Fairy would affect how I would write the story in any significant way. I probably would if I ever played X and Y or OSAR, but I don't have a 3DS and probably won't be getting one any time soon until they get a good price drop. Even then I probably wouldn't play it until a few years after it's become completely irrelevant. Because that's how I play most of my games. Cheap games that have been around for a while and have had good price drops. Saints Row IV, Saints Row the Third, Farcry 3, Pokemon White 2, XCOM, Resident Evil 4, stuff you really can't go wrong with. (Except maybe XCOM; don't ever get XCOM on PS3 because you literally can't beat the game since it soft locks at the beginning of the base defense mission). I think the newest game I've actually played is Quiplash, and even then I don't own it. I just go on Twitch and find a streamer with only a few viewers so that I can actually play the game instead of being in the audience because being in the audience isn't nearly as fun as giving really weird, gross, vulgar, answers to the question "What is the Statue of Liberty really hiding under that robe?"

... Okay, rant over.

3: The most recent of my ideas, this one would be about a male pegasus traveling to Ponyville with intent to beat Rainbow Dash in a race. He'd... Well, he'd basically be me. Yes, it'd be self insert fanfiction. *hides from the flames* I'm just saying I think it'd be fun to write. I'm one of those people that will watch an episode of something or a movie or a cutscene, then when I've stopped doing so, will start imagining what I'd do in that situation instead. I don't quite have the words for what I think that makes me seem like to you, but I don't care. In short, if you want to get a gooooood look at my psyche while I try to beat Rainbow Dash at her own game, this would be the way to go.

So there. Random babbling aside, those are my three offerings. I don't know when I'd ever start writing them, and I can't promise that I'll obey the popular consensus (because you guys can't actually make me do that), but I'd still like to get your opinions...

EDIT: As bitchy as it sounds, I would greatly appreciate if people actually GAVE ME THEIR OPINIONS instead of just reading the blog and then moving on... Please? :raritydespair:

3364373 A soft lock happens when you become unable to progress or backtrack through poor design, events not triggering properly, glitches, etc. In XCOM PS3, when the base defense mission loads, it briefly shows the map, then cuts to black. Music, Central's dialogue, and ambient sounds can still be heard, and I can still use the Home screen to quit the game, but I can't do anything.

I like the sound of the second one.

Let's see... Let's start shall we?

0.5. Are you gonna conti- *sees blog* Oh, darn it :p

1. Hmm... *takes a glance* Wow, I need to explore more. From the chapter titles alone it makes me think of Midieval times and pardon if the only knowledge I have would be consisting of a few Robin Hood movies/games. And the ever typical Sword in the Stone one, the older cartoon where Arthur was a child.

2. I wouldn't mind that and besides, I haven't played past... Emerald Green I think. Can't rememeber for my life. Nice spoiler by the way:trollestia: I also think limiting her to 4 moves is well... quite limiting in options for story telling and diversity and etc. What's OSAR?

3. So... a Sif huh? Didn't know you were from the dark side or a tough valhallan warrior:trollestia:

3364556 One little drone is officially cancelled.

Yeah, I was really interested in medieval times as a kid, thanks in part to Stronghold (a PC rts about castle building and seiges). I know a lot about medieval warfare, so I'm doing my best to be authentic with it.

I think I meant ORAS. Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire.

Good joke, mate

I've always been a Gardevoir fan so I'd be interested in seeing option two come into fruition. And, honestly, the only big thing the fairy-typing would bring to that kind of story, would that she (or he) would be completely immune to dragons. That basically their only advantage.

I'll throw in my vote. #2 sounds good to me
