DC RUMOR: George Miller to direct Man of Steel 2? · 11:01pm Aug 21st, 2015
Apparently DC Movie News started this, when their guest John Schnepp stated:
George Miller, he’s doing Man of Steel 2……Obviously Zack Snyder is doing Justice League 1 and 2, we already got James Wan doing Aquaman – Waterman I think they should change the title– but yeah I think George Miller is a perfect choice to do Man of Steel 2, he’s going to bring so much to it.
If this rumor does end up being true, I for one, will be absurdly happy. I thought Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road was amazing, and one of the best movies of 2015, and on top of that, he'd written and directed every Mad Max film, so he's got a brain for action, and for writing good stories.

Agreed. If Affleck's Batman movies and Suicide Squad are good, then maybe there's hope for the DCCU.
I have to wonder what Superman story Miller would ever want to bring to the big screen, or villain for that matter. I feel like Brainiac or Luthor would be too mainstream for him, and Darkseid will obviously be saved for Justice League. If he did a live action version of "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?" sign me up, because the animated version, "Superman vs. the Elite," was AMAZING, and I could see Miller utilizing that set of villains.
3337503 In the case of Batman, I'm waiting to see if Ben Affleck is actually good as Batman. I mean, yes he's a good director (Argo), but he's still a bit uneven as an actor (although he's had an impressive comeback in his performances in Argo and Gone Girl). However, even great actors can be hampered by bad direction and screenwriting, such as Amy Adams in Man of Steel. I know for a fact that she's one of the best actresses working today (just watch Her or The Fighter), but in Man of Steel, she was absolutely abysmal. Same for Michael Shannon.
In the case of Suicide Squad, I know that the cast are mostly good, heck, even great actors, and David Ayer is a good director and screenwriter, so I have more overall faith in that project.
3337568 Well, considering that Lex exists canonically, and evidence is strongly pointing towards Doomsday as the Batman v. Superman villain, I'd say that Lex is the most obvious option, given where the DCCU is heading.
And really, Lex is Superman's best overall villain, asides from Darksied.

Oh I adore Lex, don't get me wrong, he's amazing when done correctly. I'm just having a hard time imagining how George Miller would handle that character since his villains are typically so outlandish; hopefully Jesse Eisenberg has a good handle on the character by that point so that, if Miller was indeed directing it, he'd know what he was dealing with.
3337607 ironically, the villain in the first Mad Max was rather down to earth, all things considered.
Of course, can't get much more over the top then Jack Nicholson as the Devil himself in The Witches of Eastwick

The Toecutter? I mean... he's kinda down-to-earth, more so than most of the other Mad Max villains, but he's still more unhinged than Bubba Zanetti, and that's what I like about him as a villain. He's not as crazy as some of his followers like Johnny the Boy or the Nightrider, so you know he's definitely cunning and able to manipulate them to follow him, but he's also followed by someone like Bubba Zanetti who seems far more rational in his thinking than he is, or at least less erratic in his behavior. He's basically Australian Joker for me, but Miller likes characters like that; the Mad Max series is full of manipulative villains who are obviously bad people you do not want to mess with, even crazy to certain extents, but it's usually clear why they're able to attract even crazier people to their sides and control them. The Toecutter, Lord Humongous, Aunty Entity, Immortan Joe, they're all like that. They're usually not the craziest people in the film, but they're also hardly the most logical either.
