Every Page a Painting - Walls of Words

Yup, hello, it's me, back on my typesetting binge again, with another "Every Page a Painting" to show you. And boy oh boy, do I have a real treat for you this time around: one of my favorite novels on this site, one that hasn't been typeset before. . . well, until now, of course.

Every Page a Painting - By Any Other Name

First of March, it's clear to me
    There's something that's uncomforting. . .

Here I am again, about a fortnight after the first "Every Page a Painting", locked and loaded with a second one, whether you wanted it or not. Enjoy.

Every Page a Painting - Click, Clack, Neigh

I know, I know, it's quite bold of me to publish this on Valentine's Day of all days, but here it is all the same.

If you don't like the timing, just come back tomorrow. I'll wait.

If you're still here and you don't care about when you'd get this, all I can say is buckle up.

(Disclaimer: everything you see here is work in progress and subject to change.)

Ah yes, my hundredth blogpost on Fimfiction.

I know I should try to find one single topic to spend it on, but I've got several going through my head and only one milestone to do it in, so. . . what the hell, I'll just talk about all of them.

Buckle up; this is a certified Anthology Blogpost.™

So, I'm Making the Switch. . . · 11:18pm Jul 29th, 2015

. . . to Windows 10!

Yeah, that's right. Windows 10 is out today, and if you've got qualifying copies of Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8.1, you can upgrade to Windows 10-- free!

There's only one catch: The window of opportunity only lasts a year-- from today (29 July 2015) to 29 July 2016, so if you want to save maybe $119, now's your chance. But other than that, there's no strings attached. It's not a trial or anything, just a brand-new operating system that Microsoft is generously giving to the public. I'd like to see Apple do that!

Here's the operating systems that qualify, along with what version of Windows 10 you'll get if you decide to upgrade:

If your operating system is among them, then there should be an icon on your taskbar that looks like this:

If not, but you know your operating system is qualified (and, true story, this actually happened to me), it's because there's two (for Windows 7 users, like myself) or one (for Windows 8.1 users) optional update(s) that, ironically, you do need to install. These are called KB3035583 and KB2952664 for Windows 7 users, and KB2976978 for Windows 8.1 users. Install these updates, restart your computer (don't worry, this blog post will still be here), and in a few moments, that icon will appear.

Once you see that icon, double-click on it, and it'll show you the perks of Windows 10-- such as the Edge browser (now that's what I call edgy!), Cortana, an overhauled start menu (basically the Apps menu in the start menu, if you're familiar with Windows 8), and (hopefully if Knighty makes it happen) a new and improved Fimfiction.net, and a button to actually make a reservation for your copy.

I've reserved my copy after that update fiasco a couple of hours ago, so I'm just waiting until I can actually make the switch. Hope to see some of you Windows 10 users out there soon!

Good night, and good luck.

EDIT: Jmaster99 kindly gave me a link from his email where one can download Windows 10. I give it to you now.

huh i thought it was going to be out today

Officially it is. But Microsoft's handling all the reservations the best they can (I imagine there's a lot). I stand to reason that they're going to lose a few billion, but for me, it's all worth it.

3280525 I think because so many people hated Windows 8 that they decided they wanted to get people to like windows again? I'll just wait for it to be downloadable and see how good it is

3280548
Which OS do you run?

3280555 windows 8.1. It's not that bad until you press the start button and the start mentu takes up the entire bloody screen

3280571
Yikes, I'm glad I stuck with Windows 7!

On another note, the start menu takes up a good portion of the screen, but you can change the size of the start menu-- the same way you change the size of a window, in fact.

3280575 Windows 8 would be better if I had one of those touchscreen laptops but since I don't It dosen't feel practical at all. Windows 10 looks more like 7 from what i've seen. Oh yeah...and at least windows 8 was better than vista
