I am filled with ENNUI. I know pretty much exactly how I want the last two chapters of "Our True Colors" to go, yet I am utterly incapable of making myself sit down to write them. I lack all motivation for writing lately. Instead, I've been playing with the Drawing Pad app that I downloaded for my new Nook and drawing "My Little Pony" fan art.
I've been uploading, and will likely continue to upload, to my DeviantArt account. You can find it at http://bigenderqueer.deviantart.com, if you're interested.
Also, I want to share my Beloved Spouse's brilliant theory on Why Pinkie Is The Way She Is. According to the Spouse, Pinkie was a companion of Doctor Whooves, and years of adventuring through time and space have left their mark on the pink mare. Spouse also suggests that Pinkie is originally from a time period several hundreds years before the events of "Friendship Is Magic" and, after she and the Doctor eventually parted ways, she simply chose to stay in the future. (The Spouse has a convoluted reason for why Pinkie was still able to see Dash's Sonic Rainboom if she's originally from the past. It involves the Doctor and the TARDIS.)
Pinkie Pie has been slowly growing on me ever since Party of One...and all this RbD shipping isn't hurting her case, either. haha.

She could be on to something. I probably shouldn't think about it so hard when it's this late. T'would explain a lot.
Also, if you've really got it bad, try going for a jog. Trust me on this one, unless it's too late or cold or something. It really helps- see the sights, get your mind off it even though it's still in the back of your head if you see inspiration. Helps me.

That's because Pinkie Pie is best pony! And oh my goodness, I cannot stop writing or drawing Rainbow Pie. It's kind of ridiculous.

I totally think the Beloved Spouse is. This explanation might just become my new head canon for Pinkie.
Jog's a good idea! Thanks! I usually take a daily walk during my lunch break, and I get some really good story ideas while I do so. I also worked on some other stories last night, mostly a TwiPie one-shot I'm trying to whip into shape, and I think that little break has helped too.

Huh. Interesting theory, though personally I don't buy it. If anything, being the Doctor's companion makes people more mature, not less (sorry, but maturity simply isn't one of Pinkie's core traits) - look at the development of Martha and Donna (the latter before "Journey's End", natch), or for that matter Jo Grant or Sarah Jane Smith. (I'm explicitly not naming Rose, because her character stayed more or less as it was from "Rose" to "Journey's End", give or take a little badassery.) How do you stay the way Pinkie is after travelling with the Doctor for any length of time?

Fair 'nuff! Shameful confession time: I've only watched a handful of "Doctor Who" episodes, so I'm not nearly familiar enough with the show to have a firm opinion here. It's my spouse who's watched every episode of every season multiple times. I do know the general gist of things, though.
Maybe original, pre-Doctor personality of the companion matters in how the companionship affects them? Like, assuming Pinkie started out happy-go-lucky and laugh-at-the-ghosties, their travels could somehow emphasize and reinforce those traits rather than decrease them? I dunno, really--just kind of speculating off the top of my head.
