Music Promo Post #4: Ambient and downtempo "mixtapes" compiled by Purple Juno. · 12:38am Jul 22nd, 2015
One staple of my recent musical rotation has been a set of youtube videos that are essentially "mixtapes"/compilations by a soundcloud user known as Purple Juno. The musical styles vary somewhat, but all of them are what would be generally considered "downtempo". Ambient, chillout, chillwave, whatever term you want to use. Each one has a broad theme. They're relaxing, fun, cool, and make great background music to drawing, modelmaking, retrogaming, and pretty much anything else.

Summer nights is probably my favorite of these compilations. I've yet to really delve in to the artists represented, and there is only one on this particular comp that I was familiar with prior to hearing the comp (The XX).
Also worth noting is the images these videos use. The "covers", if you will, are actually pretty beautiful in a minimalist manner. The typography is solid, the font is nice, and the pictures capture the concept of each mix and the feel perfectly. If you listen to these, I suggest you do it on soundclod, as that account seems to have a few more pieces on it than the Youtube account currently does.
Always be on the lookout for good downtempo music. It's a truly wonderful pleasure of the world in which we share.
