    What's up, guys?

I'm writing an essay for English class reflecting on how I've grown as a writer, and I decided to hop on this old account to see how things have changed.
My stories were... well. From my 19-year-old perspective I think a lot of them lacked substance. I cringe to think about them, but at the same time it's nice to know I've grown. We all had to start somewhere, lol.

    Publishing Old Drafts

What's up guys, long time, no see. So I've been mulling this over for a while: publishing the drafts of unfinished stories. In particular, there was one story on which I was hard at work, an extended Capdagio narrative (crackship, if you're not in the know). I wish I could finish that story, but it's been a while so I don't think that'll happen. However I worked hard on the seven-or-so chapters I

    Oh nooooooooo

I can't see the new EqG shorts right away because I'll be at Youth Group. :raritydespair:

I guess I've been out of the loop, because I didn't even realize we were getting new shorts until a few minutes ago. Can't wait, though. We're getting a Twilight song, Rainbow's Daring Do antics, Pinkie Pie at the cafe, Rarity with her S1 butterfly wings... Sounds awesome!

    Angel Pulse and Shortstack designs

Aight so if you've been following my most recent story, Lack of Faith, you'll know my concepts for Scootaloo's parents. Her father, Shortstack Outflow, the CEO of Cloudsdale's plumbing company, and Angel Pulse, her stay-at-home mother.

I finally designed them! Without further ado:

I honestly feel like whoever down voted Maud Watches the Triplets is a troll. :ajsleepy: But whatever. It's still the story I'm most proud of. Thank you to everyone who liked it, I'm glad you found it enjoyable.

Well, maybe they personally didn't like the story. :unsuresweetie: Though if they downvoted without leaving a critique, that's just messed up.

3246893 True. :applejackunsure: Of course, they're allowed to dislike the story, but still, I can't help but feel a little miffed that the 0 downvotes is broken. At least it went over a year (15 months, to be exact) with no dislikes.

3246903 Wow, that's pretty impressive! I would just be glad you got that far, and that the downvote to upvote ratio is still waaay in the story's favor. I upvoted it too~

3246903 I know how you feel. My Peachy Pie story had over 60 upvotes and had been published for several months before diddly getting two downvotes. :fluttershysad:

3248267 Nuuuu! :raritydespair: Oh well. :ajsleepy: I mean, there's really nothing that can or should be done.

I honestly feel like whoever down voted Maud Watches the Triplets is a troll.

Honestly, I don't think thinking like that is going to bring you anything but unhappiness. 80-1 is a great score, and personally I'd much rather have 80-1 on a story of mine than 20-0. Sure, one extra person disliked it, but 60 extra people liked it, and to me that means much more. Besides, it's a little discourteous to your readers to assume that a downvoter is a troll; it might just not be for them.

Also, the more popular a story gets, the more likely it is to attract downvotes. My most popular fic had no downvotes for months and had a score of 120-0 at one point. Then it got picked up by the RCL, and it currently stands at 237-4. I don't think any of those downvoters left a comment explaining why. I'd still much rather have 237-4 than 120-0, though, for the same reason I mentioned above -- yes, four more people disliked it, but 117 more people liked it, and that brings me a lot more pleasure and satisfaction.

(Incidentally, the downvote on Maud Watches the Triplets was most definitely not me, because I haven't read it! The story is on my RiL list, though.)

PS: Also, once a story has its first downvote, you can relax about keeping its zero rating. That's quite liberating sometimes!

3252076 It wasn't even popular! :derpyderp2: But whatever.

3252117 A story with 80 upvotes is popular in my book! I have 18 stories, and one of them has that many. Okay, it's not in the same class as Fallout: Equestria or something, but 80 is a very good number.

3252403 I don't consider it popular because those 80 votes were earned over 15 months. :derpyderp2:
