SING ALONG WITH SWEETIE BELLE! Vol. I · 7:34pm Jun 25th, 2015

(OFictional July, 1995 broadcast of an equally fictional 1959 episode)

Hey kids! My name is Sweetie Belle! And I want you to get up and sing along with me and my friends!

As I was out walkin' one mornin' for pleasure
I spied a cowpuncher a-ridin along
His hat was throwed back and his spurs were a-jingling
And as he approached, he was singin' this song

Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
You know that Wyoming will be your new home

It's early in the spring when we round up the dogies
We mark 'em and brand 'em and bob off their tails
We round up the horses, load up the chuck-wagon,
Then send the dogies out on the long trail.

Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
You know that Wyoming will be your new home

Your mother was raised away down in Texas,
Where the gypsum weed and the sandburs grow
We'll feed you up on prickly-pear and cholla
'Till you are ready for Idaho

Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
It's your misfortune and none of my own
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, get along you little dogie's
You know that Wyoming will be your new home!~

And I alone am glad that those of you from Wyoming, Idaho, and Texas have made us your new home too! We'll have a marvelous half hour for them and for those of you who live elsewhere! We'll first put on a good old-fashioned western complete with harmonica! Then Babs Seed'll stop by to sing a fine religious standard, and we'll also have some fun love songs, and gee, ain't it great to fall in love? And finally, a rousing version of a song from one of our great new musical productions! So let's warm up, shall we?

Someone was always in my dreams
That someone was always you
I never thought we'd meet someday
But now that my dream came true

I just want the right to love you
All of my life
Just the right to take care of you
All of my life

I just want the right to be near you
Always to be there
Sharing ev'ry care and strife

Life can be as simple as a nursery rhyme
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, all of the time

Long as I may live
I just want the right to give
All my love with all my heart for all of my life

"Sing Along With Sweetie Belle!" is brought to you on cable television this half-hour by 101 Dalmatians: The classic 1961 masterpiece from Walt Disney appears in cinemas from July 14th; by Kellogg's All Bran: "One food, one life, one great fibre provider"; and by the Tigra from Vauxhall.

The western song is a tradition as old as even the United States itself. Influenced by folk songs of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and all over Europe, the Western Song is a song about the life of the cowperson, or rather cowpony, on the open ranges and prairies of Western North America. It has made stars out of some familiar faces from Gene Autry to Roy Rogers to the Sons of the Pioneers to more recently faces from Slim Whitman to Frankie Laine to Marty Robbins. We now invite you to join us as we shine up our boots, put on our hats, dust off our harmonicas, and offer a musical western with our own stars. Children!

The stars at night are big and bright
Deep in the heart of Texas
The prairie sky is wide and high
Deep in the heart of Texas

The sage in bloom is like perfume
Deep in the heart of Texas
Reminds me of the one that I love
Deep in the heart of Texas

The coyotes wail along the trail
Deep in the heart of Texas
The rabbits rush around the brush
Deep in the heart of Texas

The cowboys cry, "Ki yippee yi!"
Deep in the heart of Texas
The dogies bawl and bawl and bawl
Deep in the heart of Texas

The stars at night are big and bright
Deep in the heart of Texas
The prairie sky is wide and high
Deep in the heart of, right in the heart of, straight in the heart of Texas!~

And now, the Great Campfire of Ms. Belle proudly presents the glorious, golden voice of Ms. Annabeth Michelina Bloom.

Tell me the tales that to me were so dear,
Long, long ago, long, long ago,
Sing me the songs I delighted to hear,
Long, long ago, long ago,
Now you are come all my grief is removed,
Let me forget that so long you have roved.
Let me believe that you love as you loved,
Long, long ago, long ago.

Do you remember the paths where we met?
Long, long ago, long, long ago.
Ah, yes, you told me you'd never forget,
Long, long ago, long ago.
Then to all others, my smile you preferred,
Love, when you spoke, gave a charm to each word.
Still my heart treasures the phrases I heard,
Long, long ago, long ago.

Tho' by your kindness my fond hopes were raised,
Long, long ago, long, long ago.
You by more eloquent lips have been praised,
Long, long ago, long, long ago,
But, by long absence your truth has been tried,
Still to your accents I listen with pride,
Blessed as I was when I sat by your side.
Long, long ago, long ago.~

(male members of chorus singing:)

As I was walking down the street
Down the street, down the street,
A pretty gal I chance to meet
Under the silvery moon.

Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight?
Come out tonight, Come out tonight?
Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight,
And dance by the light of the moon.

I asked her if she'd stop and talk,
Stop and talk, Stop and talk,
Her feet covered up the whole sidewalk,
She was fair to view.

Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight?
Come out tonight, Come out tonight?
Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight,
And dance by the light of the moon.

I asked her if she'd be my wife,
Be my wife, be my wife
Then I'd be happy all my life,
If she'd marry me.

Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight?
Come out tonight, Come out tonight?
Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight,
And dance by the light of the moon!~

And now, the velvet voice and rootin'-tootin' antics of Ms. Ruby Pinch!

Just a melancholy echo
Lingering when the day is through
It's the call of the canyon
Once again I'm dreaming of you

Every night I search the moonlight
Up and down the river shore
It's the call of the canyon
Maybe I will see you once more

Standing there alone by the ashes
Of the fire we said would never die
Will I ever find an ember
Burning from the days gone by?

Then I hear a lonely whisper
As a little spark I see
It's the call of the canyon
Bringing back your answer to me!

(instrumental break)

Standing there alone by the ashes
Of the fire we said would never die
Will I ever find an ember
Burning from the days gone by?

Then I hear a lonely whisper
As a little spark I see
It's the call of the canyon
Bringing back your answer to me!~

We, whenever we are young, dream of pleasant romances. Boy meets girl, boy kisses girl, girl meets boy, and well, you get the idea and the basics of that idea. But right now, we want to spend the next few minutes drawing a picture of your first romance. You see, when you first fall in love, it's customary have ingrained in your thinker:

I'm in the mood for love
Simply because you're near me
Funny but when you're near me
I'm in the mood for love

Heaven is in your eyes
Bright as the stars we're under
Oh, is it any wonder
I'm in the mood for love

Why stop to think of whether
This little dream might fade?
We've put our hearts together
Now we are one, I'm not afraid

If there's a cloud above
If it should rain we'll let it
But for tonight, forget it
I'm in the mood for love!~

Then you start to go on a date. When you approach wedding day, which you will if you love each other enough, you'll get to hear this over the wedding bells:

I love you truly, truly dear,
life with it's sorrow, life with it's tear,
fades into dreams when I feel you are near,
for I love you truly,
truly dear!

Ah, love 'tis something, to feel your kind hand,
Ah yes, 'tis something, by your side to stand,
gone is the sorrow, gone doubt and fear,
for you love me truly,
truly dear!

I love you truly, truly dear,
life with it's sorrow, life with it's tear,
fades into dreams when I feel you are near,
for I love you truly,
truly dear!

Ah, love 'tis something, to feel your kind hand,
Ah yes, 'tis something, by your side to stand,
gone is the sorrow, gone doubt and fear,
for you love me truly,
truly dear!~

Let's turn our attention to a number from one of today's great musicals, My Fair Lady. This one contains a special appearance from one of the top Equestrian singing stars of now, Twilight Sparkle.

Bed, bed I couldn't go to bed
My head's too light to try to set it down
Sleep, sleep I couldn't sleep tonight
Not for all the jewels in the crown

I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings and done a thousand things
I've never done before

I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night

It's after three now
Don't you agree now?
She ought to be in bed

I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings and done a thousand things
I've never done before

I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night

I understand dear
It's all been grand dear
But now it's time to sleep

I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings and done a thousand things
I've never done before

I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night!~

(Note: Twilight Sparkle also makes an appearance in the chorus of the following segment.)

You sing a song
and I'll sing a song
and we'll sing a song together!

You sing a song
and I'll sing a song
and we'll sing a song together!

You've done so nicely so far. And now we invite you to sing along with me and the rest of this gang. Oh and by the way, Twilight's at the far back, next to Silver Spoon. The words will ALL be flashed below the screen. So no mumblers allowed! Open up a window! Have the neighbours hear you loudly and clearly!

Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you
My heart reposes
in beautiful thought so true
June light discloses
Love's olden dreams sparkling anew.
Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you.

Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you
My heart reposes
in beautiful thought so true
June light discloses
Love's olden dreams sparkling anew.
Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you

Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you
My heart reposes
in beautiful thought so true
June light discloses
Love's olden dreams sparkling anew.
Moonlight and roses
bring wonderful memories of you!~

Ah yes. Bet they brought wonderful memories of that special somebody or somepony back in 1925 and beyond. Let's go back to 1923 now for another great song:

I've got a longing way down in my heart
For that old gang that has drifted apart
They were the best pals that I ever had
I never thought that I'd want them so bad
Gee but I'd give the world to see
That old gang of mine
I can't forget that old quartette that sang "Sweet Adeline"
Goodbye forever, old fellows and gals
Goodbye forever, old sweethearts and pals
(God bless them)
Gee but I'd give the world to see
That old gang of mine.

There could be gangs like that coming out of here and everywhere in the world. And probably they're all doing this waltz. I hope you do it too.

My wonderful one, whenever I'm dreaming
'Tis lovelight a-gleaming I see
My wonderful one, my heart I would fold you
Forever to hold you to me

Though bright be the light of stars shining o'er me
And golden the rays of the sun
I long for the splendour of eyes true and tender
My wonderful, wonderful one

Just you, only you in the shadowy twilight
In silvery moonlight there's none
Like you, I adore you, my life I'll live for you,
My wonderful, wonderful one.~

Now it's about time we thank the following members of our chorus for their participation:
Twilight Sparkle for her great insertion into an elegant musical number from a musical production.
Babs Seed, who was just wonderful in one of our musical segments. An unbelievably great talent at age 9.
Ruby Pinch, whose performance of "Call of the Canyon" really rooted and really tooted!
Apple Bloom. Have you ever heard a sweeter version of "Long, Long Ago"?
Silver Spoon, my loyal friend, always a great choice for a servant.
and
Rumble, Featherweight, and Pipsqueak all deserve honors for a convincing performance of "Buffalo Gals"!
Have Zipporwhill and Scootaloo to fly down here with me! How about the rest of our chorus join us too? This is it! The last time we'll be singing together for now. Everyone?

Just you, only you in the shadowy twilight
In silvery moonlight there's none
Like you, I adore you, my life I'll live for you,
Oh, my wonderful, wonderful one.~

And don't you go touching that dial![color]

Be kind to your web-footed friends
For a duck may be somebody's mother

Be kind to your friends in the swamp
Where the weather is very, very damp

Now you may think that this is the end
Well, it is!
