Killing Off The Villain · 5:41pm Jun 25th, 2015
I'm thinking about killing off the villain in one of my works. But the question is, how should I kill him? It's been previously established that the only thing that can fully get rid of him is himself. I think either I should make him find himself helpless to a Deus Ex Machina, turn him into stone, or have him ultimately kill himself and accept fate with a dying speech. So, what do you guys think?
Have the heroes trick him somehow
Depends on the chracter of the villain.
Depends on what he has done so far. Who he is.
3180849 He's boastful, insane, yet tragic and shown to actually have a heart.
NO!! Do NOT kill the villain until it's the end of the story! There must always be conflict in a story, or there is no story, and villains do an awesome job at this.

Have the villain get out-smarted or tricked.
3180886 Relax. After the villain is dead, his wife will be the new antagonist.
3180917 Yeah, but the thing is, when he dies, he can chose to come back alive.

Oh thank god... Then sure, yeah, kill him off.
3180925 Simple: Have someone he respects be the killer.
3180943 He respects no-one except Nig-OH! OH! OH! OH! OH! OH! OH MY GOD! EUREKA!
3180952 Yes. You now see what I see.

I think you could do something with the 'kill himself'. You could have his heart break, his tragedy catch up with him. This combined with his insanity would drive him to kill himself, not being able to go on anymore.
His speech would be beautiful if done right.
A tragic end for a tragic villain.
Or you could have him fade away/ turn to stone. Finding irony in that a boastful villain, always noticed, should pass away unnoticed.
I feel some
-vibe to this
give the Antagonist a heartbreaking speech.
