    Tonight

    Pretty gut-wrenching night.

Take care of each other, everyone. Be kind, be nice, try to counteract any hatred you see with love. When they go low, keep going high. Because it's the only way to make it through the next few years.

    This isn't goodbye

So I figured I should give everyone a big update on where I’ve been, the lack of communication, what my life is like, things like that. Maybe get a snack, there’s probably going to be a lot of text. But I'll at least put in a few pictures of ponies to break things up a bit.

    Quick notes

Just thought I'd pop in and say a few very quick things:

-The final chapter of Of The Night will be published at the same time as the Epilogue. So there's two chapters left, Chapter 9 and Epilogue, but they'll be up at the same time.

Presenting: Just Stories · 9:55pm Jun 21st, 2015

It’s been a very long, very off-and-on journey, but at long last, Just Stories is live.

I don’t write much first person. I’ve never been that into first person, unless I can play with the medium a bit. The prime example of this was The Diary Of An Evil Pony, which was written as writing (man that was an odd phrase.) Just Stories is more traditional of first person writing, but I couldn’t just leave it at that. So when I decided to pursue it, I decided to go a slightly different route.

I once heard a rule about writing. When you start a story, ask yourself “is this the most interesting part of your main character’s life? And If it’s not, why are you not writing about that?” And so I took that rule, and I kinda threw it out of the window. I wanted to write a story about the period after the most interesting time in a pony’s life. And from that came the obvious choice for main character.

FUN FACT: I have never seen a single episode of Doctor Who. I’m familiar with the character and I know the legacy that the character has, but in terms of actually knowing anything about it, I’m totally in the dark. Which is why writing Just Stories was both fun and frustrating: I had to create my own backstory for the character. Doing that was quite rewarding, but also needing to stick to that character, make sure things were consistent throughout the story, all that jazz.

I’m happy with how this story came out, especially since it was one of those stories outside of my “comfort zone.” A writing style I don’t use about a character I know little about. I think this was a great way to jump back into writing; I feel reinvigorated, and in writing Just Stories, a lot of new stories have come to mind.

A special thanks to my great editors: shortskirtsandexplosions, PropMaster, CSquared, and Pilate. Even through real-life issues, the advice that they gave me for this story was invaluable, and I will always consider them friends before anything.

Thanks for sticking with me for so long, through the lengthy hiatus, and through the long delay in getting Just Stories out. It's funny... back when ETC was riding high and I would publish stories in between, I would get more views on my new stories because they would be tagged without ETC. It almost feels like a new start for me in terms of my writing, and I'm eager to keep exploring what I can do. I promise you, my next story will not take as long, because I already know exactly how I want it to play out.

See you soon!

So... just to be 100% clear, is he your take on Doctor Who's Doctor, your version of the Doctor unconnected to the show, or his own character? Depending on which of those it is, I may give this a try. I don't read Doctor Whooves fics (partly because I haven't seen all of the show yet and want to avoid spoilers, and partly because I don't really like the idea of Whooves being the actual Doctor anyway), but I may make an exception if this guy isn't the show's character.

His own character.
