This isn't goodbye · 10:46pm Nov 3rd, 2016
So I figured I should give everyone a big update on where I’ve been, the lack of communication, what my life is like, things like that. Maybe get a snack, there’s probably going to be a lot of text. But I'll at least put in a few pictures of ponies to break things up a bit.
Like this perfectly Nor-Mall Horse Creature.
As stated earlier in the year, I left my job to go freelance. Since then, I have become associated closely with a MakerSpace. This association has done absolute wonders for me, helping me make money while I not only continue to build the freelance business, but through them I’ve been able to get clients, teach classes, and finally get around to learning 3D Printing, something I’ve always wanted to learn but never did. In short, while the actual freelance business is definitely slow to start up in terms of finding individual clients, I am in a very comfortable place, and can safely say that 2016 has been one of the most rewarding years of my life.
Bigger than that, though, I’ve finally had the time to pursue something I’ve always wanted to: a gaming channel on YouTube. Gaming has always been a big part of my life, and so this year I finally took the leap and started up a channel. I’ve used it as a way to learn video editing, and focused on making regular shows that have scripts rather than just gameplay. And at the risk of sounding cocky, I’m actually really happy with the growth of the channel within the first year!
Pony Pony Revolution was my least favorite arcade game
So there is, in fact, a reason why Of The Night took much longer to get out than anticipated. Between working at a MakerSpace, building a freelance company, and putting out a few videos a week, my time for writing sorta dropped away.
But I have to admit, there’s a bit more to it than that. The past few years I’ve had a ton of fun writing. But as time has gone on, this year especially, things have changed. Priorities have changed. And as I said, the time that normally has gone to writing has gone to video editing and building my channel.
So that’s why I wanted to make this blog. And specify that this ISN’T goodbye.
Because to say goodbye would mean I’m done. It would be closing a door. And quite frankly, I just don’t feel comfortable doing that. I still have story ideas! I don’t know when or even if those stories will be out, but I don’t want to say never.
And the other reason this isn’t goodbye is… well… I kinda plan on spending less time writing, and more time ON Fimfiction, if that makes sense.
Write write write write write write write
I had a lot of fun doing the episode-by-episode reviews of the show, and reviews of other stuff, on this blog. But with focusing on the story this year, I never really thought about doing it for Season 6. So I kinda want to go back to that, maybe starting with another list of the best episodes of Season 6. And speaking of reviews…
This may surprise you, but in all the time I’ve been writing for Fimfic, I’ve maybe read, like, 50 stories. That’s it. I do a lot of writing, but I’ve just never done a whole lot of reading. I want that to change! I am one of the lucky ones who has a decently-sized following here on FImFic, and I think I want to pay it forward and bring some spotlights to some lesser known fics I come across, and writers who really deserve more views. I also want to of course do some reviews of bigger stuff (I still owe a certain story a critical reevaluation), maybe even some non-pony things (I had a lot of fun reviewing Exit Through The Gift Shop). So hopefully you’ll be hearing a lot more from me, just not in the sense of stories.
In addition, there is something I do want to work on. In focusing specifically on editing and writing, I feel like sadly, I’ve lost touch with some really great people. I don’t like that I let myself fall into that, and I need to work on staying in contact with people who are close friends.
Because friendship, you see.
So, that’s about all there is from me for now. Like I said, this isn’t goodbye. I’m definitely not going to have as many stories anymore, but you can expect to see me around a lot, reading and commenting on stories, reviewing stuff here, just updating people. And again, check out the YouTube channel. I’m really hoping to turn this into a thing I can monetize, and at this point, any support would be hugely appreciated. And thanks to everyone for the nice comments on Of The Night! Although it took longer than I expected, I’m glad people seemed to enjoy it.
See y’all around. Peace.

:D Now catch up on Austraeoh and join the Jury!
Sounds like a generally positive priority shift to me. Enjoy your current setup, including seeing what others have made here.
There are few things in the show that make me feel as great as that pony DDR scene. ;_;
Subbed here. Also, I've been seeing you game a bit in general. You're a good way to spend an evening, as far as I'm concerned <3
I'm amazed and very humbled to see my profile linked. You're a cool dude, and I hope that we can play another game of Civ together at some point in the future.
I'm kind of the same way right now.
Can't wait to see what you got for us.
