Havoc's Hourglass Development and What's Going On With Me · 12:43am Jun 14th, 2015

I wish I could say I've been working on it, but I have not. I've thought a lot about it. I might finish it eventually. But I think it would be best served to finish it completely and release it as a whole, so you don't have to wait months or years between chapters. So within the next year, it will be finished. This I can promise.

Writing unfortunately takes a long time, especially good writing that doesn't follow a formula, unlike most FiMFiction content. Writing out simple synopsis that have a little of meat on the bones is what's done around here very often. There are tons of people better than me, and tons of people worse. My writing is what I would consider a 6-7/10 at this point, compared to most of FiMFiction. Unmarked was 4-6/10 the longer it went.

But I work hard when I do write. It takes hours. I don't get paid for it, either, and nowadays, I have more fun things to do, as well as things that I can get money from. Rather than spend that time not making money while writing content I'm not getting paid for, I could do the opposite, and as I grow older with less support from my parents, I have to lean toward making money for the things I do.

Writing may not seem hard, but there's a reason there aren't many successful writers. If everyone could do it, everyone would be successful and make a lot of money. It's similar to artists. Artists can spend anywhere from 6-36 hours on a simple drawing you look at and like in the space of 5 seconds, and even when they do get paid, they get paid, let's say, $25 for a 24 hour drawing. That's about $1. Less than minimum wage, and that's solid work hours instead of work that they could goof off on or go to the restroom while on the clock.

I don't mean this to come off as "Hey I want to get paid for Unmarked and Havoc's Hourglass, so I'm not going to do it." I just have to see to myself and the things I like, and that's unfortunately more important than a mediocre fan story I can do in my increasingly diminishing free time.

I was going to just respond to a specific comment on my user page, but I guess it turned into more of a blog post, so here's an update. Probably isn't what you want to read, but I thought I'd let you know.

Sorry I've been absent. Expect it to continue for the forseeable future. But I will finish Havoc's Hourglass. I will finish my other projects. It might just take more time than the relevancy of FiMFiction or MLP.

It sucks, but that's it. Until next time.

Off I go.
