Scene Break Error · 6:48pm May 25th, 2015
Last night, I just learned how to download whole stories as epub files on fimfic. Curious how my story would look, I downloaded it to my ancient Sony PRST-1 Reader.
I think it's pretty cool seeing the cover art for the story like this. Also seems I wrote more than 200 pages worth of text.
<Woohoo!)
However, there was a problem.
That problem is the only picture that carried over. All of my chapter art is gone, but at least each chapter in the epub still carries the chapter title nicely. But that isn't a problem, sure a disappointment, but there is a much bigger implication.
In the story, I use custom horizontal divides to break my scenes. You've seen them before, I'm sure.
Well, I've made these guys because I kind of wanted to have an "illuminated" feel. Like this was an old book that was copied by monks or something. (I know I really haven't been doing a good job with the art ) The border and art were a way to make my story to stick out, but now since they can't be seen it totally screws up my writing in a way I didn't predict: If you download my work, there is no way to tell where one scene ends and another begins. Testing has proved that adding extra space between the text and the art doesn't work.
So, it seems I'm going to have to ditch my custom dividers. A shame, I really was attached to them.
Now, I am looking into designing one using Text Symbols.

Do any of you have any suggestions to help me fix this problem, or should I just use simple horizontal dividers?
Try triple line space.
That's what I do to get a double line space.
I know, it's odd. But just give it a try.

And it worked!
I had a double line space before and after each image, but I guess it didn't register once downloaded as an EPUB since it still recognized there was an image in the middle of four spaces. Now I just need to make sure that all breaks have triple spaces.
