So the bitter truth just kind of dawned on me. · 2:17pm May 22nd, 2015
Being a working parent takes up a lot of your free time, no doubt about it. Especially if you are pretty much running the show all by yourself. Still, after I put Little Witch to bed and finish up all the daily chores, I always manage to dedicate an hour or two of every evening to some R&R. Usually that is enough for me to write around 1000 words.
However, last evening I got a random urge to play the original Deus Ex again after hearing about the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Despite the prehistoric graphics, it is still the best game of the series with a great mechanics, an engaging story and SO MUCH voiceover work for its time.
Of course, then I had to realize how playing a game right now would eat into my evenings and, ultimately, my time to write. I'd pretty much have to put Circumstellar on hold. Then I had a look at my chapter summaries and realized there would be no games at all for me for the next 20+ weeks...
OH COME ON. I started writing again because I wanted to gain back those years in college when I was serious about it. I may be a technical editor by trade, but I have forgotten how to write productively and for fun. If I falter and start getting distracted by games now, I might not be able to psych myself up again to finish Circumstellar.
I will finish writing first!
