    What's up with the peaches?

Can someone tell me what's up with the peaches? Is it something from the show,(I don't watch the show), or just something else?

    Poll for new 'Humans' story.

Hello my rather voracious fans, I'd like to ask a question.
Would you all like a new story set within the 'Humans' genre, one of a more serious tone?
I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while now and I'd like your opinion.

Life Giver · 5:13am Jul 18th, 2012

HELLO, I have good and bad news, I have started work on life giver after a short brake as to not burn out. Although it will likely be a while before I release it as I have to make up all of the lore , history and technology for the humans in my story, I would like someone to bounce ideas off of to see if my tech would be possible in real life, because I want it to be as 'realistic' as possible, so if any of you are willing to help just comment below.

Ooh this is a good one: Near-Frozen Stasis - The act of bonding the body with a mixture of Urea and Glucose to act as cryoprotectants , to prevent osmosis shrinkage of the body's cells. then suspending the body in sub-freezing liquids to stop all biological and degenerative processes, while the cryoprotectants prevent the water in the bodies from freezing and destroying the cells. - see Wood frogs.

I could offer some help, Theoretical physics (Well, theory in general really) is my specialty, I can come up with the best scientific explanations for anything you could possibly want.

236769 I'm looking manly for the tech involving things like FTL (I was thinking a type of Fold space drive) bio and nano tech and mega scale engineering, and some weapons tech either kinetic or energy based, like magnetic rail guns or ion particle beams.

236779 Hmmm... Faster than light travel eh? That's a doozy... One unique idea for it is to have the ship built around a black hole that is launched in a certain direction via a consistent matter beam (Basically just a gun that constantly shoots stuff at the black hole) And have the ship follow the black hole, allowing the time dilation to make a 100 year trip last only days for the crew, and the greatest part is that since time is already dilated they could go very fast, and plus, the black hole would also function as the "thruster" of the ship if it were circular or spherical, as it would pull at the front, and the back, which would push each other around, causing acceleration. Or something like that.

Nano tech...Well, using radio signals or any traditional communication would be stupid and foolhardy, since there would be thousands, and you couldn't send orders to that many without some bleed-through between the commands, so I'd say using a quantum entanglement communication system paired with atomic circuits (Where for the computer bits you used atoms), which would allow you to have very intricate control of all the nano bots.

Bio tech, well I have no idea what you mean by that, unless you mean advanced genetic manipulation, such as introducing new genes to a person's genetic code to allow cool things (Such as red glow in the dark eyes)

Mega scale engineering, well that's a simpler one. You ever play total anihilation or supreme commander? ever notice how they built stuff with lasers? Well I thought about that for a while, and had a cool idea. What if you have a small nano bot (Which would already exist), surounded by iluminum, or some light and reflective fabric, that allowed it to be pushed by photons Ie: you can transfer matter using lasers, and the great part is is that the nano bots could contain a "Packet" of a certain particle, that it would arrange in a preset way (Probably determined by an advanced computer) and direct microscopically using small ion thrusters, and it could even dissolve itself into the structure as a sort of "Mollecular mortar" to hold and fuse everything together.

Weapons.

F.A.E.E.B. (Focused And Extended Electron Beam). It's basically just a beam type weapon that launches a stream of raw electrons that are coralled by an extended magnetic field, that is generated and modified automatically according to the target that the weapon is aimed at. The field could be controlled by a computer and a minor electrical pulse. This weapon could seriously heat up anything it hits, in addition to massive electrical discharge. However, it would only work on conductors (Non-insulated metals, or noble gases, the noble gasses would make plasma, by the way, so you could also have an artillery cannon that launched a compressed shell of some noble gas, and fire the F.A.E.E.B. at that, creating a space explosion) It would also work on resistors, barely, but it wouldn't work on insulators. And what I meant about the noble gas plasma thing is that it would help it work against insulators.

M.A.M.L. (Magnetized Accelerated Mater Launcher, otherwise know as Mom, as in they'll cry for their momma when they see this) Just a normal railgun, it keeps a piece of magnetic material (Iron, or Carbon, probably) in the center of the barrel, via a ring of magnets, and the barrel would have intermittent rings of magnets inside (Or outside) that would become magnetized when the trigger is pulled, allowing massive launch speeds of ridiculously sized projectiles with minimal recoil.

I will add more, but I just need to get this comment out so that you know it's coming (with good stuff) And I need to take a quick break anyhow.

236799The reasoning that I had behind the FTL fold space drive was that it is supported by Superstring Theory and M-Theory (which I know next to nothing about) The drive would make a worm hole and they are allowed by the general theory of relativity so I don't THINK it would be breaking any rules. The nano tech could be controlled by AIs but i do see the problems i was thinking that the bot would be created on the spot with specific orders or programming. As fair as the mega scale engineering (supreme commander fav game) I should have said astroengineering like dyson sphere / swarms, star lifting, thing of that nature.

236816 Ftl drive, well I could search up string theory and m theory and wormholes as well, but my way is actually scientifically proven, but I could give wormholes a go, I just thought they were a bit cliched

Construction, well, that's what I was getting at, in a round about way, I was just saying, how much easier would it be to lift say, the tenth of a miligram, as opposed to five tons? And also, this construction could be done en-masse, and set up EXTREMELY quickly, as you wouldn't have drones constantly blocking eachother because of being crowded...Though, for mass production I really don't see any other feasible way, though I'm sure they exist.

Nano bots, Well, I kinda said that I think you should use the quantum entanglement because it could be done quite quickly, and you could have the nano bots all be controlled by a central ai, that would prevent collisions and anarchy.

236823IDK if this is what you think i'm getting at but the engineering and nano tech are two diff things the nano tech i was thinking could be used to build small things like a tool or something on the spot or even a full suit of armor or space suit, as fair as the mega engineering I wanted to see if building things like a dyson sphere could and could not be scientifically possible. But what u said has given me ideas

236838 Actually, that gave me another idea. What if you, using the Dyson sphere, absorbed all of the solar energy being emitted by the sun, and used all the excess not needed to run the sphere itself, to sort of pool it, and make a collection point of the exterior of the sphere, and create a wormhole (Controlled location via intricate energy manipulation) to other places. Because that way it's actually physically possible, as any ship smaller than a moon wouldn't be able to realistically host and cool a reactor big enough to generate the energy to create a wormhole.

Warp drive based off of Halo theory:
Using a series of supercolliders to generate a miniature wormhole and commandeering it to slip into a sub-dimension where the laws of physics are different/do not apply (Eg: slipping into a dimension where the speed of light is 100 times faster)

Singularity Cannon from red faction: Armageddon
Creating a singularity and launching it at an enemy vessel (Or you form it directly next to the enemy vessel), where it consumes it before destabilizing and detonating.

Slipspace gun: Opening up a wormhole directly in front of the weapon, with the exit aperture right next to the enemy vessel, and firing the weapon through the wormhole, so it hits the enemy vessel before they see it coming. alternatively, you can form the exit aperture within the enemy vessel, so it causes immense amounts of damage.

Regenerative virus: At an early age, say 20, you take a DNA sample and freeze it. later on, when your'e old, say 60 years old, you take the frozen DNA and graph it into a special virus along with a compound that inhibits mitosis of the existing DNA. So that the virus inserts the DNA and places the compound into the original DNA, so along comes mitosis, and the new DNA is replicated, while the old, defective DNA is lost. And TADA! Regeneration via a vius!
This works because aging is caused by the slow damaging of the DNA, and when it replicates, it may not work properly.

I'll think of more later...

236843 U know that could work, THX budy, but I thought that if you could use a Dyson swarm that could be held on a ship would could use the ftl anywhere you could find a star, Ships in my universe will be mostly a Km or more.

236852 A kilometer is pretty big, but in the grand scheme of things, not very big, hmmm you could use carbon nano tube based batteries to store enough energy to store enough electrons to generate a wormhole...

236847I like the virus idea might use it with the nano bots that could contently do up keep on your body.

236855
Yeah, nanobots would be more reliable than viruses...

236854Got to remember its the year 16,425 that would mean they would have had a LOT of time to get good at space travel and ship building. And the fact that they have had AI since 2,078 and a complex idea could be tested and retested millions of times a minute by an AI I could see the potability of fast advancement.

236860and nano bots won't spontaneously mutate into something new and you can not control.

For the nanites, I'd suggest having the exist in pocket-dimensions, or higher dimensions, with only a few manipulators and sensors in normal space. I say this, as they wouldn't be intelligent enough otherwise, and least by my understanding. You could use them to maintain youthful bodies, and to regenerate damage to said bodies.

Also, consider the singularity. Humans could exist in machines, replicating new bodies as needed, or IF needed. We could, at that point, make whatever body/housing we have suitable to all environments. We could have metal skin, amphibious lungs, super-reflexes.

For warp drive, it's just a matter of decreasing gravity behind you, and increasing it in front. Or something of that nature. It puts you on a "downward slope" relative to the rest of the universe. Give your ship a push, and it goes. You could also compare this to a gear ratio.
