Clashes between police and civilian protesters exercising their First Amendment Rights are currently underway.
I don't know if anyone else has been covering this event on their blog, but I felt it necessary to make some remarks on this event, in light of the one-sided media coverage.
Yes, stores and infrastructure are being destroyed; this is an unfortunate circumstance for parties who are not involved with the unrest, but it is also the only way to convey any messages to the capitalist apparatus entrenched in the U.S.A. Hitting the System in its wallet gets results.
Claims are being made of 'looters' pillaging stores. Meanwhile, 'looters' in bespoke suits and Maybach automobiles 'loot' millions of dollars from U.S. citizens and smaller countries: far from finding this abhorrent and disgusting, the public considers them to be upstanding, successful individuals we should all look up to, and breathless articles full of praise and admiration for these splendidly-dressed robbers can be found in a copy of Forbes.
It is my wish that the unrest spreads; that this minor clash grows into an all-encompassing Collapse Of The Wage-Slavery system. Of course, I am not optimistic about this, since the battle lines have already been sharply drawn, the Baltimore Government is on high alert, and the heavily armored shock-troop squads of the Capitalists - better known as SWAT - are on the scene, which all but ensures that the Baltimore Mayor has already succeeded in oppressing his citizens. The police detachment is being stiffened by National Guardsmen, further sealing the fate of this spontaneous display of freedom and liberty.
Anyone for a Baltimore Protest Ponycon? I jest, of course. I'm too far away, and organizing such a task would require no small amount of money. But it would be nice to have!
