Good evening y'all.
A point was made in the most recent comments on the lack of updates and how the long duration between them should really necessitate an post of some sort. And looking at it, I couldn't agree more. So here is my first real attempt at doing an actual blog update.
The largest two reasons for delays are first my timetable; I attend college and work.
The seconds is my muse. She is (not) a very nice lady who is as fickle as a particularly feral cat. Generally i get large burst of inspiration and i can write 30k words of something, and then she cuts me off.
Periodically i get quick ideas for things that could be put in if she ever decides to give me back my mojo. Oh boy could i rant on how annoying it is generally. I've long sustained i would gratefully take any advice on how to write reliably, as generally i'll sit down to have a go at it shuffles some sentences around. get fed up, and then go work on some of the stuff i should of been working on.
So that's where a lot of my creative processes have hangups. Lack of time, and unproductive time when i do get it.
To answer the big question: How much of the next chapter is done?
I have 6.5k words for the next chapter (Titled: An Armored Interlude)
I'd say its between 50-66% done unedited and on the cautious side. If i cut out some bits that I'm not certain would really add much, It might be more.
There are also 6k words worth of notes, which doesn't sound like much, at least to me, but these are brief bullet points, and clips of conversations, that can be flushed out to form larger portions of chapters at large.
To complete the cycle of annoying muses, I'm also actively trying to write another fanfic based upon Worm: (https://parahumans.wordpress.com/ on the off chance your interested) for a Spacebattles forum. I had originally intended it to be a one shot to get it out of my system (Like many a one shot) but I had enough positive feedback each time i've posted, of people saying how much they really wanted it to be a full blown fic, that I buckled and decided to continue it. (I had enough material to continue for certain.)
At any rate, I hope that clears up whats going on somewhat. "Progress is being made, but slowly" isn't much fun, believe me i know, but Its at least better than "its dead jim", and i have no intention of stopping it anytime soon.
