TL; DR: I'm very sorry for my absence, it was due to personal issues and my being extremely busy for the past couple years. Aged Scales will resume its normal update schedule in early June. I might upload an unrelated one-shot next week, but aside from that I will not be posting any new content until June. I will, however still be responding to PMs and comments.

Alright. Here we go. Hi. Remember me? Remember Aged Scales? No? I'm not surprised. Okay, think back to 2013. You started reading a story about Spike, dealing with the fact that the Mane 6 take him for younger than he really is. And, if you're reading this, you liked that story enough to favourite it. Anything? Ah, there we go. Yes, it's me again!

Please don’t hurt me. I'm reeeeeally and truly sorry about this but if you could just calm down for one second and hear me out...please...
Okay, enough nonsense, let's break this down. After an abrupt one and a half year absence, I'm back. First off, I'd like to say that I really truly am sorry for this and I hope that you can all find it in your hearts to forgive me. I NEVER intended to leave for as long as I did. Last year was just really hectic (not messy, just hectic) for me. I had so much stuff going on. There was the death of a family member (not immediate family member, but I knew him well, and yes I'm fine don't worry), an important exhibition that I had, as well as some teaching (which I actually find quite enjoyable) among many other things. In fact, I'm still very busy, probably busier than I've ever been with this year-long project I've got. Now, I won't go into any more detail about my personal issues, but the point is, creative writing has taken a backseat in my list of priorities, and I haven't been giving it nearly as much attention as I should have been. I would feel so guilty every time I checked my e-mail and found that someone had favourited my story, or followed me on Fanfiction.net, or posted a review on Aged Scales. That still happens to this day a few times a month. And it would just make me feel sick. Sick that people are still reading this incomplete story that has not been updated for a year. Sick that all of these people are waiting for an update of some kind.
I have been putting off this blog update for some time now because I just didn't know what to say or how to say it. My last blog post before my hiatus talked about ideas for fics. I certainly hinted at a lot of things-so many on fact that if I were to take it upon myself to write complete stories on all of them, it could easily take multiple years. Honestly, I’d love to do it, but I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t know where I’ll be in that time or if I’ll have time to be writing fanfiction. Hopefully though, it gave a bit of insight on what’s to come.
Back to Aged Scales; the story is now *officially* on hiatus (it occurred to me relatively recently that I should change its status, I know I should have done it before). The story will resume its normal update schedule come June. Next week, I might be uploading a one-shot unrelated to Aged Scales. Stay tuned for information on that in future blog posts. Aside from that I will be inactive, though I will be responding to PMs and comments and things like that (if anyone still finds me relevant enough to communicate with). Also in June, along with the return of Aged Scales, I’ve got a big slate planned for some other stuff that I’m hoping you’ll enjoy. I might elaborate on this in a future blog post, but for now, I’m done.
