As I write this, the raw file for Chapter 5 is being exported, and Von Snootingham is in the midst of Chapter 4 - which bodes very well. Having finished Chapter 5, I can only assume that we've pretty neatly made it out of the exposition stage, whether that sounds pretentious or not - because if I have learned anything from watching Breaking Bad, it is that any time it feels like there's a lull at the end of a chapter in someone's story, it very likely means that a lot is about to start happening, for better or worse. It's been quite a while since I've read Leit Motif's voice, so it will definitely be interesting to get into that and work on a voice that suits her personality.

On a side note, I can't help but be pleased that Pirene does equally as well as the show at portraying rounded female characters, from what little I've seen: it may well come with the territory, though, so what do I know? However, as a Star Wars fan born and bred, I can't tell you how pleasantly refreshing it is to read a story by a male author about a cast primarily of female characters whose actions determine much of the flow of the plot and who don't fall into stereotypes whilst doing so. I've read some pretty cringeworthy stuff in my time - for reference, The Empire Strikes Back has a rather unfortunate novelisation when it comes to Leia-as-thinking-being versus Leia-as-love-interest. (I swear, most of the stuff in the expanded universe is better than this, but, well, Sturgeon's Law applies.)

Off to dinner now, but props to Pirene. It's a pleasure to read this.

*2017 edit: I'm aware now that Ether Echoes is a lady. The pleasure still applies, though, since we do not have nearly enough well-written female protagonists in general.
