I'm in a very odd position right now... · 4:45am Mar 21st, 2015
Hey there guys... Something kinda funny just happened...
So I've went back and read through some of my old chapters and.... They are riddled with embarrassing errors. Some few misplaced YOURS and YOU'RES, some spelling errors and recently I mixed up and put the wrong characters name down!
Now this kinda stuff won't really derail the over all story (it will for some) But I'm sure many of you still cringe when you come across most errors.
So what am I going to do?
Well first off its pretty obvious that I should simply go back and fix them, but the time it would take for me to actually go back and fix everything would kinda derail the next chapter and it would be very mind numbing and tedious for me(but nobody cares). And even if I did go back there's bound to be more errors hiding. Nasty little things they are...
I was thinking about doing it when the story is complete but... God knows when that will happen... Because i know what events I want to cover but I don't know when the story will feel complete to me, or if I even can complete it. Especially if life knocks on my door and says "you don't have time to write stories about magical ponies".
Perhaps I could get a grammer Nazi... like a SUPER grammer Nazi, to go through the old chapters and eradicate the You're and your crap, but I doubt that.
Another thing I could do is also pretty obvious... Don't let the dern errors show up in the first place! Let me tell ya...even with a beta...shit somehow slips through... It just does! Although I think one of the issues is me posting these long ass chapters. Maybe shortening them a bit will make them easier to check.
Of course after all this I've had a handful of people actually bring it up, but besides them I dont know if anyone actually cares!
Some people (me) can ignore stuff like that and keep reading if the story has them interested already. Not sure about the rest of you...
Grr... Its fustrating!
The danm errors always find a way...
No that was a joke, calm down
I actually read that all.
The end got me though. I was about to smash my computer.
In all honesty I seem to have a form of mental auto-correct and those simple errors don't even register to me if I'm enjoying the story, or deliberately looking for them.
If you feel the need to correct earlier chapters more power to you, but don't feel that you have to. If the story is interesting enough most should be able to overlook simple mistakes.
i barley even noticed the errors XD from my days of reading so many fanfics that have spelling errors i pretty much have a mental auto correct for simple errors lol
