Chapter 1 is on its way. · 5:33am Mar 20th, 2015
Yep, check it out. I finished the first draft, and then I uploaded it to Fimfiction so I could take a screenshot of the chapter list and show it off.
It's still a bit unrefined, though, and I have made the rather bothersome observation that I have difficulty doing a thorough self-proofread of something this long. It's okay, though. I'll just get other people to proofread it, like I was going to do anyway. The chapter will probably be completed and published quite soon, before the prologue's 3-week-iversary on the 22nd.
This chapter has been... It's been a bit of a bother. As the first chapter, it's the chapter that establishes the premise and sets the ball rolling. I got to write a number of interesting scenes, but it left me feeling literarily unsatisfied, since the plot moved forward so little. I keep reminding myself that it's a "what if?"-type fanfiction; moving the plot forward isn't the point. But I think, now that all that establishing and setting-rolling is done, future chapters will have both plot and hijinks, which will leave us all satisfied, even me. I certainly hope so, anyway. I also hope that Applejack spends less time alone in future chapters, because I don't like writing Applejack alone.
And, sheesh. This thing is loooong. I definitely did not go into this chapter expecting it to be 440% the length of the prologue. I also didn't expect it to have the title "Bluebell". If you had told me a week ago that the chapter would be called "Bluebell", I would have asked how you thought you knew that, because it would be a very peculiar prediction, and I hadn't published any information at that time that could lead to a guess at the chapter's title.
Ha ha. Look at all of that meta-information I told you about the chapter, and look at all of the regular information about it that I didn't tell you. Oh, wait! You can't! I didn't tell it to you! Nyah nyah! Seriously, though. It feels a bit weird just sitting on all this. But I must sit on it, for all our sakes. That was an unusual sentence.
Anyway, see you on the flipside of that little red dot that means the chapter's unpublished! By which I mean, see you when the chapter ceases to be unpublished. I GO.
