Some Music Stuff That I Did · 10:51pm Mar 19th, 2015
On the off chance that anybody remembers me saying that I was pursuing a lot of music stuff, I just wanted to share some of that. I've now settled back into writing stories again, but for the months that I wasn't, I got to do a lot of cool stuff.
First, I played Cliffs of Dover on clarinet, like a boss. I also managed to do it sideways, because I'm fucking spiderman (actually my computer can't read the video file so I can't edit it or anything).
Second, the jazz* combo that I formed with some of my buddies opened for a local jazz band last week and another time a month ago. Here's a picture of me playing my peavy crapocaster with my incredibly classy guitar strap. I think I was playing "The Ocean" by Led Zeppelin when this was taken, judging by my I-look-like-I'm-constipated expression and the position of my hand on the neck. I cropped my incredibly talented compatriots (two are the first chairs in the state jazz band on their respective instruments, and one makes sick techno shit. I kind of just try to keep up), lest the NSA gets wise. But yeah, Rusty Spigots for lyfe.
Also, I wrote an original composition, but I don't have a microphone to record it with yet. I'll probably do that at some point. But yeah, I just wanted to put this out there because I'm having the time of my life doing this stuff. I also wanted to justify being inactive for so long, so I guess that about covers it. I'll probably post some more of this when I do some other music stuff that actually matters, which looks like it will be in early April, if all goes as planned. yeah.
*we've played jazz, funk, blues rock, drum and bass, ska, and a song from the nutcracker suite. Nothing is off limits.
Ooh, I missed this one in your list :D Nice clari cover.
I had an old crap-o-caster, once. I rigged a killswitch into it and it played like a beast. Too bad I traded it off for a sick-ass Dean :D I use neon strings so black lights make it glow :V

What's your amp combo/setup? I think I see an Orange amp in the back there, is that yours? :O I use a Vox tube. Gets loud enough to crack windows
Also, I must now know what guitars you have, because I'm that much of a geek for them. In love with the Peavey AT-200 at the moment, my baby sings so sweet :D

Didn't know you were a fellow gear buff my friend! The orange was being used by the keyboardist for the band we were opening for. I didn't actually see it before you pointed it out in the picture, so I don't really know anything about it. THIS is the amp I was using at the gig, which belonged to their guitar player. I don't have a good amp myself, since I'm saving up money for college and only make a big gear purchase every few months or so (mostly I buy pedals; I really like pedals). When I do get a good amp, I'm thinking of going for a Vox or a Fender, but I might go for something cheaper.
As for the rig, the aforementioned crapocaster is a Peavey Generation EXP, a rip-off tele, and it's my only working electric guitar. The title is a loving one more than anything. Other than a loose input jack, it works great. I use flat wound strings, which unfortunately don't glow in the dark and are kind of pricey, but good for all the jazz I'm playing. My speaker isn't anything to speak of (buh dun tss), and for pedals I have an Ibanez Tubescreamer, ZVex Fuzz Factory, Dunlop Wah, and TC Electronic Flashback Delay. That about covers it.
