Administrative organisation
Infantry
Size: 27 battalions in 9 regiments, for an establishment strength of 26,600 ponies.
Organization: The standard line infantry battalion numbers one thousand ponies, divided into ten companies of 100 ponies each. One of these companies, the Light Company, may be used for skirmishing and light infantry duties on the battlefield, and is typically formed of those ponies who have demonstrated excellent marksmanship. The Grenadier Company is typically composed of the largest, strongest ponies in the battalion and so often leads assaults or is deployed to the heaviest fighting.
Uniforms: As a general rule, the line infantry of the Royal Equestrian Army wear bright red jackets, exceptions being the infantry of the Crystal Empire and the light infantry battalions, which wear green. The lapels and cuffs of soldiers’ jackets are “faced” with the colours of their regiment. Any other uniform idiosyncrasies are listed with the regiment.

Cavalry

Organization: Owing to the nature of cavalry combat, the cavalry is a Pegasi-only branch. Each regiment is composed of ten squadrons of 100 Pegasi, for an establishment strength of 1000 Pegasi.
Uniforms: With no exceptions, Dragoon regiments wear red jackets, while Hussars wear dark blue. Hussar uniforms are among the most elaborate in the army, and consist of the dolman, a tight, heavily-braided jacket; the pelisse, a fur-trimmed braided over-jacket usually thrown over one shoulder to minimise the impact of sword cuts; the sabretache, an ornate general-purpose pouch; and finally the busby, a fur cap with a coloured cloth busby bag hanging down to protect the side of the face.

Uniforms: In an inverse of infantry uniforms, the Royal Artillery wears dark blue jackets with red facings. Their cap badge displays a cannon on a limber.
Royal Army Supply Corps

Uniform: The Supply Corps wears dark blue jackets with green facings. Their cap badge displays a shield bearing a wagon wheel and crossed axes.

This may sound stupid, but how modern is the human military in this story?

So, they have ironclads?
Vary good list. If I have one criticism to make ( mind you I haven't actually read the story yet so I could be totally wrong) it's that the army looks like it should have some kind of mage corps for unicorn battle mage's. I see that you are trying to go for a Napoleonic style of combat instead of the standard medieval/ fantasy melee fest, but you would think that magic would be too useful a tool to not have some teams dedicated to it.

2839598 I'm personally doubtful of just how much magic Unicorns can produce. Most just seem to have basic telekinesis and magic related to their special talent. Truly spectacular magical feats seem to be restricted to a handful of ponies (i.e.: Shining Armor and his shield), and seem to be absolutely exhausting to pull off under the best of conditions. Battle is certainly not "the best of conditions". I try to confront the problems of Equestria's "defence by champion" strategy in my first chapter, where Shining lays out the case for a conventional army. Pegasi weather magic will make appearances, however.
