Preparation Q&A and Advices · 6:29am Feb 19th, 2015
Ok, I got everything I needed to get started but...I think it's about time for me to start asking a few question on certain things so okay let's get started.
1. I know how to get started but where exactly should I begin I mean, on readings of course because I don't want to be involve with severe casualties among the way like copyrighted notices and such?
2. How and What site ('s) do I need to acquire artwork for my own pony character/mlpfim main character's as well?
3. And how to do narration and VA lesson. Don't get me wrong I know how to act and all but, I still need practice so it doesn't hurt to ask for help from the professionals well, I was just curious?
4. And last but not least, how can I make a story that involve mlp character's?
So that's it I know I probably asking for too much information but I hope you guys can help me out on asking some few question's because I probably gonna be starting my narration readings maybe sooner than I suspected although, I really grateful if this blog post really gotten threw someponies attention so this has been my Q&A and I'll see you later
Bye.
Questions one and three are a little bit beyond my realm of knowledge, as I don't spend much time dwelling among the ranks of voice actors or the YouTube readings. My suggestion though would be to try this group: Fan Fiction Audio Readings
Question two can best be answered by going to DeviantArt and joining some of the Pony groups that you find there. Look through the artists who do Pony fan works and you'll find some that are doing requests or accepting commissions. You can also try this group here on FIMFiction: Art for Fan Fiction
Question four (how to actually make a fan fiction) is a little complicated, but intuitive once you get the hang of it.) Scroll up to the top of your screen. Do you see your name between the "Groups" and "Settings" tab? Hover your mouse over your name. A new drop-down menu appears! It has a lot of your features and abilities on it. Hover your mouse over the one that says "Stories." Another pop-up menu appears. On this one, click the "New Story" tab.
The site will now take you to a page where you set up the story. It will ask you to name the story, select its genre, label the characters who appear in it, and give a short description and a long description. You may also choose an image for your story. When you've done all this, hit the green "Create Story" button at the bottom of the page. You will be taken immediately to the story's page which was just created. You can leave it blank for now and come back to it later, or begin creating your story right away.
To add text, look above the title of the story on its page you just created. There you will see a tab labeled "New Chapter." It doesn't matter if your story is going to have multiple chapters or is just a one-shot... this is where you start. When you click the tab, a pop-up screen will ask you to give the chapter a name, or if you want it written "dynamically" (meaning the site will just label each chapter "Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and so on. You can always change this later.) When you are ready, hit the green "Create Chapter" button on the bottom of the screen. Tada! You now a have a nice, blank sheet of computer screen in front of you upon which you can copy/paste your story from a word processor, upload it from Google Docs (be sure that the GDoc is public), or even type it then and there! Save your progress by using the disk at the top of the screen.
Now, the part that confuses most folks is "Publishing" versus "Submitting." On the main story screen (the first one you created) there is a red dot next to each chapter. If you click it, you can turn it green. That means that people who know about this story can see the writing in that chapter... but only if you send them links to it and such or post a blog about it! The story hasn't been submitted to the site yet! That means it hasn't passed moderation. To do that, you must hit the "Submit" button at the top of the story page, and the Moderators will look at it as soon as it as soon as they can.
I know this probably sounds confusing, but it becomes quite intuitive once you've done it a few times. I hope this message has helped and I wish you the best of luck in the future with your stories.
