Kingsman: The Secret Service: Actual review this time · 6:26pm Feb 18th, 2015
Alright, let's start.
Wait, aren't you going to say some sort of pun before the review?
This ain't that kind of review, bruv.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a fucking awesome movie! Here's why:
I find myself hard pressed to say anything bad about it. Not only is the movie well written, well acted, well paced, it's also funny, endearing, and fucking awesome!
Am I gushing? I tend to do that.
The movie has the feel of a classic James Bond movie with badass gentlemen spies, colorful villains, and a fantastical plot. Imagine James Bond as an R-rated action-comedy, which is a nice contrast to the grittier movies of late.
As for the acting. Ho boy. Let me compose my self...

Okay.
Practically every actor plays against their usual type of character in this movie. Colin Firth is known for his very good dramatic work, The King's Speech in particular. And yet not only does he sell himself as a credible gentleman spy, but also as an awesome action hero. Micheal Caine, known for appearing in more movies than the sun and generally being a nurturing grandfatherly type, plays a very nice snobbish dick here. Mark Strong, known for being British and evil, but then again aren't they all, is actually a kind if hard instructor who is quite likeable. And then we have Samuel L. Jackson. You know, that scary black guy who's fucking awesome and scary all the time, even when he's the good guy? Well, he plays our megalomaniac villain for the evening and is probably the cutest thing in the movie~! I'd never thought I'd would use 'Samuel L. Jackson' and the word 'adorkable' in the same sentence unless that sentence was 'Samuel L. Jackson? Adorkable? Are you high or something?'. But now that sentence is 'Samuel L. Jackson is adorkable and is still a credible villain. This movie is awesome!'
You know, just take a drink ever-time I tell you this movie is awesome.
Anyway, I would also like to mention Taron Egerton as Eggsy, our actual main character. Maybe I would have heard of him was I British, but since I am not, I've never heard of him before. But I've certainly heard of him now! Not only is he a very likeable character, which was my chief concern going in, but I actually started caring about him. One of the worst things a movie can do is make you not give a shit about the main character and luckily I did care about Eggsy. Aside from one or two dickish moments which fit in with character development, I was with him the whole way. And I would also like to mention the character Gazelle who plays dragon to our main villain for being such a cool and interesting character that I look forward to the inevitable fan fiction about her.
The pacing was on par with The Avengers in that I never really felt bored and found myself waiting for the good part to start. Which is an accomplishment when you have to establish the hero becoming the hero.
The movie was funny when it wanted to be and dramatic when it needed to be and was absolutely a joy to watch. Special mention goes to the gut punch about 3/4ths of the way in.
But let's talk about the action for a moment.
This. Is how. You do. A frenzied. And intense. Action. Sequence. I'm talking to you Taken 3! Would it kill you to let me see what the fuck was going on! I'm here to see Liam Neeson being awesome, why won't you let me see it!?
*clears throat*
*nervous cough*
Sorry, needed to let off a little steam.
The action in this movie is superb, being engaging and awesome. My favorite scene in the movie would have the be the church scene because not only is it awesome, it also has a sense of frenzied action that still allows us to soak in every detail through a mix of fantastic choreography and editing.
Over all, Kingsman: The Secret Service is a must see and a must own. It has also gotten me in the mood for some writing, so maybe some updates are in order for a certain DJ and Cellist.
anything that inspires Taviscratch is good in my book.
I really need to see this movie anyways.
Indeed, the movie was amazing from start to finish Especially Eggsy's character development.
I swear, I didn't even notice Samuel Jackson because not only did he look entirely different to me, but it was hard for me to take his lisp seriously until the movie progressed further
The church scene also has one of the best lines in the movie, in my opinion. You know the one.

Indeed. Only the British would be polite enough to offer a good day after such a sick burn.
I actually think that if more people see it, it could actually give Age of Ultron an run for it's money, all it needed was more publicity cause I only saw like one trailer for it awhile back, anyways I'm gonna go watch it again this week because it was such a great movie, lol
P.S. Freebird makes everything more epic, lol
