Something new, just in time for the Equestria Daily Friend Off.
This one's a little different, and may not suit everyone's tastes. The composition was affected by a number of factors, including a new job that doesn't leave me much spare time to write, and EQD's unfortunate habit of holding writing events with short deadlines. (There's another one for Hearts and Hooves in less than a week, and I'm not sure I'll be able to come up with anything decent on such short notice.) That's why the pacing is so quick, and why the ending seems rushed: because it was.
I'd actually started writing this particular story some months ago, but the Friend Off gave me a good excuse to finally finish it. It's based upon some existing artwork, so I can hardly claim to be original, although I tried to put my own little spin on things. Story of the Blanks and Friendship is Witchcraft are the obvious influences, although Scootaling is a little more subtle. (It's also the source material that I'm the least familiar with, which is why she doesn't do much more than stand around being a changeling.)
Forgiveness and redemption are strong themes in Friendship is Magic, and the same holds true here. When Pandora opened the box, unleashing all the evil into the world, the light of hope was left in the bottom.
All you need is a single light to find your way home.

The world needs more Sweetie Bot/Apple Blank/Scootaling fics. In any order or combination.
