I'm a linguist. I like ambiguity more than most people.

Luna for Dummies · 8:28am Jan 30th, 2015

Through a combination of getting really sick of seeing people butcher Luna's archaic speech in their fics and happening to be studying the subject at the time, a few months ago I decided to make a simple guide to writing Luna dialogue correctly. I put it off way too long, and I'm not even sure it's relevant anymore, since Luna's rehabilitation has kinda passed as a fad in the fimfiction community, but here it is anyway:

If you've ever felt uncomfortable trying to write for the Princess of the Night or you've gotten negative feedback about how well you handled it, take a look and learn something. Or if you're just curious. I hope it's easy to understand and factual (since I don't claim to be an expert). If you have thoughts of your own to share, let me know and I'll act. If people show interest and I have more to add, I'll definitely revisit it later.

I just found this post while updating my own to have tags and I've linked to it since mine is much more focused on the technical aspects of using EME properly when you do decide to use it while yours focuses much more on when it's appropriate.

Since you seem to have a much deeper and more experience-oriented understanding of EME, I'd appreciate any corrections you can point out to mine. (As mentioned on it, I also maintain a copy outside fimfic for other fandoms and authors of original works.)

(I've already noticed that I forgot to include a section addressing the majestic plural.)
