    It's been a while...

I'm not sure where to begin, really. Most of that is because I feel like I'm entering a dead silent room and the hinge has let out a piercing squeak to announce my either wanted or unwanted presence, but here goes.

    Alright, we're ready to go!

Ok folks, chapter 17 is now broken down to 4 parts for easier reading, the first being the quickie "Uncle Titus" I published back in... oh jeez, New Years Eve?! Yeesh. Anyway, the three parts I've been working on have been given the first proofreading pass. I'll do one more after taking a quick break so I don't inadvertently skim over it as my brain knows what I meant to write not

    Quick question regarding Ch. 17

So, to avoid what would easily be a 60k word eye-melter, it looks like the chapter will be divided into parts, the flashbacks ("Memories of Making Friends" featuring Twilight and "A Visit from a Princess" for Luna's first story time with Titus) and then Lyra as well as Geirr's scenes ("Plans and Cages") to round it out. My question to you is:

    Quick update

Everything going as planned! Finished Lyra's segment last weekend and this weekend I'm finalizing Geirr's scene (he's a nasty boi). After that I'll be moving on to the proofreading!

Just a couple of things to cover in today's blog:

1. Chapter 10 is progressing nicely. Initially I was having a bit of trouble figuring out where and how to start and spent a few days writing what I thought I liked then going back the next day and heavily editing or deleting it entirely as I tinkered, but once I finally got something I genuinely felt clicked it started flowing. As of this blog entry it is around 9k words in length, which is a bit behind where I had been with previous chapters after roughly two weeks of work.

2. I'm unsure if I can finish Ch. 10 before my preferred publishing time. I'd like to make the chapter available when more people have a larger amount of free-time, a.k.a the weekend. This makes me feel that I have two options:

Option A) Conclude the chapter where it is now (with a little more work this wouldn't be hard) and cover what I still want to include at the start of the next chapter. In the future, I'd stick to writing shorter chapters. I don't particularly like this option as I'd prefer to keep Chapter 10's structure from bleeding into another, separate PoV (for those of you that read the note at the bottom of "An Odd Day" got a hint as to what Ch.11 entail - no pun intended )

Option B) Keep writing until I've exhausted my writing juices on this chapter. Disregard any personally-imposed schedule and publish when I'm 100% satisfied. If this sort of thing continues to occur, I'll publish a special teaser chapter of a section that I feel is completely finished and won't be changed when the full chapter is published. If I don't feel Chapter 10 is ready by the time the weekend rolls around, I'll probably go with this route.

3. Non-story related, so stop reading if you don't care. A recent promotion and a few layoffs at work have allowed me to pick up an additional, though wholly sporadic, 15 hours per week, which puts me somewhere in the 70 hour/week range (and is probably the reason I had to double-check the title of this blog, momentarily thinking I had fallen through a portal and landed at the end of February) so I'll have less free time to write. But them bits tho...

Anyway, thanks for reading and, as always, constructive criticism, feedback, ideas, suggestions, questions, or simple hello's are more than welcome.
