Let us just say that when I normally respond it is in 'character' as something that lives outside the reality it's currently trying to gain influence over, and often represents Change, like if one MLP was cannon despite there being a human or such there to try and change it up? especially being one of it's agents, you'll see it attept to gain enough of a foothold to alter it with small touches at first but it grows over time.
