Awesome! I just went back through the story and freshly fixed several (hundred) mistakes pointed out by Ersmiller. Though I'm still not submitting it to EQD (I don't handle rejection well hehe ) Anyway I'll post a new chapter at some point when I finish updating No Game, No Life.
But onto the real topic. A few people have asked me about Daring Do. Mostly "is she real in this story like in Equestria?" Well the answer moves into headcanon territory, and I know how you guys dislike that. But basically, yes. She is a real archaeologist that frequently comes into contact with various mythical and magical artifacts. My reasoning for this being possible in a world devoid of magic are two fold:
Headcanon 1) You know Equestria is a magical place. It's also stated in the show and comics that vary few species in their would exist without magic. I view the EQG world as the opposite where those with magic exist few and far between. So much so that it isn't even widely believed. I'm actually planning a plot point waaaayy later in the story that expands on this. Let's just say that there's a transfer student that's going to be really interested in Shimmer and the girls. And it's probably not going to be Twilight. Daring Do is just an explorer with an unnatural amount of luck in finding these magical objects. When she writes about them she slightly exaggerates the stories. Such as writing Ahuizotl, who is human, as a dog faced monkey hand tailed beast.
Headcanon 2: There are various entrances between Equestria and whatever the human world is called. Sometimes magical objects fall through the cracks and end up in each others worlds. Daring Do frequently comes into contact with these. Though when they cross worlds the majority of their magic disappears, but they still have enough to cause strange effects. These odd occurrences are what Daring bases her stories off of. Again with varying levels of exaggeration.
You guys can choose which headcanon you accept. Or if you can make a better one feel free to tell me. These are just some that I've put some thought in.
I like headcanon #2. That seems like something that might actually show up in a later Equestria Girls movie/comic. The main comic series (#s 17-20) indicate that not only did Star Swirl create the mirrors (there's at least 2, with the one in the movie being not being the first), but there's also more than 2 worlds that can be traveled through. Who's to say Star Swirl is the only one capable of creating such portals, especially with multiple worlds worth of people?
I'm not sure why you think those are mutually exclusive.
2708071 what do you mean?
Thanks for the worldbuilding update! So is Ahuizotl a corrupt general of a South American country? Or just an indigenous extremist out to stop what he percieves as Daring Do's grave-robbing?

I mean that the line:
implies that it must be one or the other, when both together is just fine.
2708268 Loll I prefer extremist myself. A corrupt one with ill intention.
2708280 ahh
2708299 Me too, all the tribal native ponies seem loyal to Ahuizotl, it just makes it kind of awkward because she really is kind of robbing graves, and it seems like the indigenous descendants would prefer Ahuizotl have the contents of their ancestor's temples and tombs, so she doesn't exactly come off as a hero that way.

True. However, if we take into account Azuihotl is weaponizing these cultural relics (because at least in the Daring Do books they're magical), then arguably he needs to be stopped even if their rightful owners do want him to have them.
2708445 That is a very good point indeed.
